  1. See ya. p.s. Rainbo says prrrrl.
  2. Peltier Citrus Set This is an often shared photo, most recently in my memory posted by Galen. Whose is it? Someone named Steve? Any help with the documentation will be appreciated. Thanks. [update: Al has it attributed to Peawee (Steve Cogdill) from Feb. 2007.] Note: there is also a photo in circulation which gives the specific names of at least most of these. They're in the citrus family but aren't all called plain citrus.
  3. Round cat's eyes are easy to find! These are spiffy the way they are!
  4. David, you made a little bobble in a thread. You called Bill "Scott". I thought it was an accident, so I mentioned it to you in a PM. Then you PM-ed me back that you had it on good authority that MarbleMansion was Scott Birchfield of Maine. I told you no. You didn't seem to believe me but you did edit the spot where you called Bill "Scott". I DID try to keep it private, and cover for people [edit: by "cover" I mean "minimize potential embarrassment"], but you couldn't/wouldn't tell me what your good authority was and I was concerned by how far the rumor might have reached so I posted that one "nip it in the bud" thread about the rumor. And I thought/hoped it was over. But it very understandably shook Bill. Rumors suck. Bottom line: MarbleMansion is Bill. He is cool. He has contributed to marbledom in a positive way. Pavcraz is Scott Birchfield. He has perpetrated major frauds. He is not a positive contributor to marbledom. He is endless fodder for threads like this one.

    Interesting perspective! Thanks guys.

  7. Who is being negative? (A LOT of people are.) Everyone needs to remain cognizant of their personal power to derail threads or to help them stay on a positive course. Everyone needs to be part of the solution. Not everyone will, but the more people who are the better things will be. If one person is being negative, then it might take half a dozen people to right a thread afterward. It's worth the effort though. IMHO.
  8. Winnie, I sure loved your examples! Great examples! Awesome examples. Thank you so much for sharing! I'd like to add them to the thread of new marbles which sort of look old. Would that be okay?

    Vitro Buttermilks

A couple more pix I found in my Buttermilk file. No idea whose they were. But I think the backlighting is awesome. Is this a typical amount of translucence for buttermilks? (click to enlarge) Bit of trivia I just learned. Without seeing any of the marbles in this bag up close or being able to turn them around, there's a good chance there are buttermilks in here, and maybe some other buttermilk kin. Good chance the shooter is a buttermilk. Worcester Salt bags seem to be the homes of buttermilks. (obviously not my bag or I would check!) (click to enlarge)

Here's a different looking pair I've had on file. Not sure but I think they're "larger ones". Posted by Mary M at Marble Mental. There appeared to have been some question about the black ribbons but Guy and Randy both said black ribbons were okay, if I read it correctly.
  11. What a question! lol Would you prefer biological or astronomical names?

    Vitro Aquamarines

The word I'm hearing is that a tan color is important. Tan like the sand of Lake Superior & Lake Michigan. :-) I live less than a mile away from Lake Michigan. I suddenly feel an urge to go get me a bucketful of sand. No kidding - I think I'll take a walk this evening!
  13. My general impression is "about the same". I think you can still usually get them for a few cents apiece but some famous types sell fairly well, and some people do fairly well even with nonfamous ones by presenting them in eyecatching ways.
  14. Does this fit in this thread? It looks different to me. But it has a ground pontil. I think. My marble but Charles' pix.
  15. I got dibs on your Hercules! just kidding. You'll be missed. Hoping your marble blues pass. But I understand.
  16. Someone once accused him of being Pavcraz. That had to hurt. Really sorry about that Bill. Sorry I ever mentioned it to you. Sorry anyone ever mentioned it to me.

    Vitro Aquamarines

Thanks Bo. That's one of the kinds I'm wondering about. I wouldn't have thought so but they seem to be in the range some people are saying is okay for aquamarine. Hopefully someone with the inside dope will weigh in.
  18. While I'm at it, how about some Buttermilks? Here's Bob's pic from Chuck's article at Joe's website to get things started. And oh yes, Chuck's description: Thanks.

    Vitro Aquamarines

Okay , , , here's Chuck's description. I guess my question is how does that translate visually. Are the examples I've been seeing of late people pushing the boundaries because they want to think they have aquamarines when they don't? Or have I been too strict in my interpretation? Trying to sort that out. Thanks. For an example, I've seen some called aquamarines where the base seemed rather close to being white. What's the range of base color which is 'allowed', or considered desireable. What's desireable in the patches? Stuff like that. Thanks again. -s
