After reviewing the last two pages of this, i want to clearify a couple descriptions for a couple of the pelts. that was mentioned. "Clear Superman"- a total clear transparent base with swirls (Miller) type, (resembling the tri-color swirls, with swirls of red, yellow and blue, some av may be found "Fruit Cocktail"-A total clear transparent base (NLR) with internal ribbons of red, yellow, green, and white (NO Swirls), av possible "Fancy Fruit Cocktail"- same as above but with the added color of BLUE, making it five colors (NO SWIRLS), av possible In my opinion the first mentioned is totally different than the last two. Hey Dawg86, i have been gone hunting and saw this thread when i got back. I had to add my thoughts to it as the great hobby warrents. I try with all my heart to add quality information to this hobby that is vital and interesting to drive a desire and passion to add another quality piece to the collection. Over the last 41 years i have learned and found out so much and looking for certain examples after (STILL) learning more on a daily basis, then (MAYBE) finding what i (THINK) could exist and then stumble onto it, just makes the hunt that much more desirable. Just like looking for that big ole buck deer. I like the pelts quite well, thanks to Guy Gregg who is another great collector we have lost, and slowly compiling and getting examples of these to have and explain them for our future collectors. Keeping the passion, integrety, honesty, and most of all the friendships developed in the hobby brings it into the future with leaps and bounds. I think in the near future much more quality information will be available to all who love the hobby. It is a continual learning hobby everyday, some know a little more where as others are still learning. I can attest i learn something new everyday from my great friends from the past and those of today. There is an ever non-ending flow of quality information out there and if you think you know it all, sorry, dont think so, i am still learning myself. There are however many very very knowledgable collectors and dealers out there who will with a little prodding, share information with you. For me, JUST ASK, and thats the legacy i want to leave for those behind me. Chuck G--

I have been off this forum for awhile, but i want to just add my thoughts to this discussion of the rarer pelts. No end to the various examples in many family types. With numerous discussion with my great friends out west and discussing these pelt names and characteristics i tried to bring the west closer to the east with names of these pelts that are the same, not different names in the west than we have here. For example, the "Green Lantern" has many variations to it. By popular demand do we add another name or do we try to say this? I know and have seen at least five different versions of this more rarer marble. "Green Gobblin" is in the "Lantern" family but has washed out black over green to make it purple with black av ribbons. The "Silver Surfer" is another one that is being taken farther on with variations of the color of av in the swirl. I have many many many examples of variations of pelt marbles and ( i think) for most part most people like names especially if they range in the upper scale of rarer ones, these names stick more in their minds. Like Ron S said we do not want to make it so complicated that young collectors wont grasp the hobby. My goal is to bring the west names in sink with the east to keep it simple with good descriptions of them that is easily understandable. I miss my two great frinds Bruce Lockhart and Clyde Tuller very much and we have discussed pelt marbles on the phone for many hours, now they are gone and i have been picking up new friends out there to carry this into the future. I know some may dissagree to some of my thoughts, but knowledge is vital in this wonderful (friend filled) hobby. Chuck G--

I know in my heart that i will miss brother Clyde very very much, he and i were good friends. Its hard to find good friends in this crazy world and Clyde was a good friend. Chuck G--

MarbleD, sure looks pelt to me. I have the same marble under my pelts and have them with two ribbons, three ribbons and the four ribbons like yours. You might back light it and see if its on a transparent colored base. The four ribbons look black but you may get fooled with this one. I do know if this marble was broke in half you would get another surprise of what the actual base glass color is. It could be a MK but dont think so. Chuck G--

I kinda agree with Mike B and his thoughts on peltiers av. I would predict that more provinance information will come out later on with this question. I do posses a shooter peltier that has all of these colors of av in one marble, black, silver, red, blue and green, how would one discuss this marble if it was unintentional? Chuck G--

The top marble is called a pelt "Bacon-n-Eggs". The others are plain "Butterscotchs" Chuck G--

Hi members, i am looking for some known named exotic peltiers. I have a project that i am working on and i would love to see what names come out for this. I know that the term exotic is a desputable term and some may think on the terms of CACs but i think there are some pelts that would fit into the exotic file and i am looking for names. Please throw your names in the pot so we as teh group can learn more. Photos are very welcome also. Help me out!!! Chuck G--

Steph, hit this marble right square on the head, she is exactly right. Yes, i do agree with the total make up of the marble which sure dont look pelt but it is all the way from other examples close to this one. Manylittle, i am still learning myself and i have done this now on 41 years and am very far from knowing it all. Good chat boards and good members make this hobby tons of fun and a long time learning experience. Chuck G--

Steph, i am messing around to have a little fun. I keep forgetting everyone knows that i am into pelts real heavy. I think maybe back in a past post i might have posted it before. Out of all the very pretty swirls or even in the nlr patterns this one is really neat in hand. Yes, i kinda throwed a name to it, the "Salamander" or as some say "Sallie". As i get older sometimes the mind slips now and then. I was just having fun and this great hobby should always stay fun and truly enjoyable. Saying also hi to Dani and Ernie. Life always "rolls' back to you in delightful colors!! Chuck G--

Jeeper, i will have to go back in my file to find examples in my photos for you. Here is one we call the "Sun Dragons". This is one that was discussed on another board and some have mixed feelings on this one. Ok, that being said, the base glass is the normal dragon green but the ribbons are seperated from each other and not a blend or colors sumwhat togather like the "Flaming Dragon". The reddish/yellowish are completely seperated from one another. Yes, agreed in the "Dragon" family but warrents a neat name by its total different make-up. Some say i get a little to far out in left field to catch the ball but one day all this will come togather and be shown and proved by me with great examples. I will be working on some projects this upcoming year towards some great information to share with others. Some dissagrements may arise, so well warrented opinions and thoughts from others is truly welcome and i will always learn from others ideas. Chuck G--

Jeeper, thinking about the discussions on the board, that i forgot one more pelt "Dragon" type that is called the "Golden Dragon". Its a half and half bi-fracate family type that has the base glass half gold yellow color and the other half the dragon green color with the reddish/coral colored ribbons on it. This type can be found with a little looking. Chuck G--

Happy Birthday Dani, may many many more "Roll" your way with happiness. Chuck G--

Jeeper, threads like this is where we all learn a lot with great discussions on them. I can tell you this from all the years of collecting pelts that there are many many varients of peltier "Dragons". I love seeing the names associated with the marbles in themselves being in the same family but maintaining the overall prominant name sake. Per say for those who want to know: "Dragons", "Flaming Dragons", "Dragons Eye", "Sun Dragon", "Dragon Melon". These are a few that i know of so far. I like your term of the "Ruby Dragon" and it fits the criteria of the Dragon family. It is a different run they made with transparent red glass. Now a few members might chime in and some agree but others may not so keep an open mind at the possibilities. Chuck G--

Are These "chevron" Slags, Pelts??
Chuck G replied to mibstified's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Mibs, YES, they look pelt to me and also we have known them to be called pelt "Ramshorn Chevrons". Now i must say also after many discussions on this anomily that, it did happen in other companies productions. It was in the process and somehow it happened. Chuck G-- -
Jeeper, gotta go pelt on both marbles. The "Dragon" has an opaque green base with red opaque ribbons, but if the ribbons blend or contain both colors of reddish/orangish/yellowish it becomes a "Flaming Dragon" The other marble does have a name (IF) it contains (ONE) ribbon of white opaque glass???? in between the red transparent ribbons being called the "Dragons Eye". No name for the one you have unless its the one i mentioned above. Most pelt collectors call these marbles this!! Chuck G--

Chuck, thats a really nice VHTF pelt to come by. Here in the midwest i found out the name of this rarer one at the Ammana show when they were still going on and one of the dealers up there called it the peltier "Blue Lagoon". The "Blue Surfer is just as cool though. I think and feel that most peltier collectors like the marble names we all post. This marble also comes in a clear transparent base also. Chuck G--
