This is a very imformative thread, love (ALL) the comments about them. I have been pretty busy but when i get time i will take a photo of a group of these starting with a (single) color and progress up to (counting white opaque) up to four colors with the white. I hope this will give everyone an idea of peltier starting with a single color and adding extra colors as they produced them. The peltier "Fancy Fruit Cocktail" has five colors with the white. As Chad says: they must be on a (CLEAR) base to qualify them as such. Bringing a photo later on. Chuck G--

I have been doing this for years and try with each new project make it better. Everything you see is carved from deer antler, cept the added goodies like the moss, leaves and nuts and other things. The frog is deer antler also. I will post another little diplay i done for my brother. See what you think. Chuck G--

sclsu, you are very correct on the superhero part, can get very confusing. Unless i am wrong the "Spiderman" is in the MK era. Maybe this will help. Peltier Marble King Superman------------------Boyscout (blending) Superboy-------------------Spiderman Green Lantern-------------Green Hornet Bruiser-----------------------Hurcules Dragon-----------------------Watermelon Bumblebee------------------Bumblebee Wasp-------------------------Wasp Boyscout--------------------Boyscout Girlscout--------------------Girlscout This is a real quick list and some may disagree and have other names for them as i listed. Superhero names due cross-over to other makers. It can be very confusing to new collectors. Chuck G--

sclsu, here is my take on them and some may dissagree, talking "peltiers" only!! "Superboy"--a varient shades of blue base with swirls and or ribbons of reddish (red to burnt red), some may contain tracer colors (shades of darker) along the reddish color. (NO) yellow, plus a little blending and possible av added "Superman"--a varient shades of blue base with swirls or ribbons of reddish and yellow, (some blending of the two colors possible) but most prefer the seperation of the two colors, some examples may contain av also. Now some collectors have added another example called the "Superteen". I will be continuing studying this example to actually see where it lies in their production of marbles. If anyone has this example please post a photo of it or what they may consider this example. Making marble ids simple and easy is the goal we want. Chuck G--

Jessica, those are just a few of the neat looking catseyes i have. I have saved the odd and different ones for years now and have some very strange ones. The more i collect the more information is out there even on these catseyes a lot of collectors overlook. One day in the future i do hope someone does a nice book on catseyes and share photos and information on some really killer (kitties). The tower display is a special thing made my our great friend Bruce Lockhart who has left us a few years ago and he also made me a special pocket wood box also, fits into your shirt pocket real well. He was a special friend to me. I like taking photos with a group of marbles like the photo i posted but have a few problems with focusing on the whole bunch at once. There are a few catseyes that can bring a few bucks if you can find them. Chuck G--

Gonna add my (two) cents worth to this subject. I have noticed over the last few years that so called (names) cross over to different manufacturers, per say this subject "Inkys". Alley-"Inky"--white or off white opaquish base with swirls (or flames) of vibrant blue rich color, resembling writers (ink) Peltier-"Inky"--Opalescent yellowish transparent to translucent base glass with the blue color palat as the one above (Mikes example) So far no other makers are attributed to this name yet, even though there could be? Jessica, gotta go with pelt on this one in my opinion, i have the same marble and in hand its a great one. Yes, pelt made a red and orange sperate color combo, also a possibility of a "K&M" with red and yellow. The more sought after ones have the av in them. Chuck G--

Al is spot on, on the definition of a popeye. A simple easy description for a definition is the normal standard for a specific name of marble. Chuck G--

Are Not Quite Round Marbles More Or Less Collectible?
Chuck G replied to sclsu's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
The (out of round) collectors!! Yes, i collect the (FOOTBALL) shaped marbles from all makers. There are a few collectors that collect the odd shaped marbles, not many but there are. Chuck G-- -
Last springs show here in Decatur, George Sourlis, done a talk and had some paperwork, with posters to buy on Rosenthal marbles and packaging. He done a fine job and everyone enjoyed the little seminar. We had many questions and sought many answers. It was fun and we do this type of activities for most of the shows. We are working on another marble subject for this falls show on friday afternoon. Chuck G--

YES!! Chad Cline done a very fine job again on his show. He works extremely hard for many months ahead to get it to run smooth and have everything in place. I had the privelage of seeing and having a great time with all my friends and marble family. Thousands of great looking marbles to see and purchase from the old to the contemps. Sami was there and saw and bought a few things from him and was very honored to get to meet Galin for the first time, a fine gentleman. Spent some of the day on thursday talking to him and had no idea who he was for awhile until Sami told me. The attendees was from all over, even way up north to south. It was great to get the west collectors and dealers come east to visit us. KUDOS, Chad, another great show, and congrats on the new addition to your family, she is a doll. Chuck G--

Ann, go to the other post i just wrote on the time slot. Chuck G--
-
Ann, Sammy is probably pretty close on those dates. I know someone who can get it down closer to exactly the year dates. I will check later for you on this. There is one peltier that (i think) could be one of the earliest ones done, but pure speculation on my part having about six examples that are exactly the same run. I have a theory on these examples but until i can prove it i will not go to far out on the limb and committ to what i think. I have two of two different sizes that was (dug) from the factory area and have found other examples later on. A quick description of them, but have no photos yet. These are what most would say are "Clear Clowns" and or "Clear K&Ms" (BUT) these have the early NLR internal ribbons of yellow and red. Most think of these as the "Sunset" external ribbons, but the examples i have are internal. I have no idea on the time date on these yet. A clear bubbly base with internal ribbons of yellow and red, with a very distinguishable U shape to the red ribbon inside that is transparent red over riding a yellow ribbon. I am very leary of using the term (experimental), so many want to jump on this but i feel that these examples could possible be an early NLR prototype. I also have a (suspecion) that these prototypes could have been used as examples for Marble King for there "Cross Thru" cateyes. Seeing how close that Peltier at their end of their reign of production and Marble King being freshly starting up, having developed their style of marbles from examples of other makers types. A lot of my own speculation and theory and ideas that i have wondered about for years, looking and finding examples of what i (thought) might have been produced from one company to another. I have a question also now that you brought this time slot up. When was the time slot Peltier produced the internal (SIX) ribbons marbles, after, before or during?? Chuck G--
