Hi members, i just wanted to update everyone that may be interested in attending our show here in Decatur Illinois. There have been plans for the author of the (NEW ALLEY) book to attend and he is bringing plenty of their books. On friday afternoon before the show we have plans for him to do a little mini-talk about the new book and also we have plans to do a little talk on the akro orginal boxes if this all works out. You will get a double treat on the information to be shared if you attend. Its going to be a great time, so come and join us. Chuck G--

How about some "Sun Dragons". The yellow in these are (seperate) from the red/orangish colors. Chuck G--

William, these are really neat and pretty marbles from every angle. In this tower shot are two bigger marbles in the center that are real similiar. A jar of these came from an auction that were lunch box marbles from a past employee at the pelt factory. Now wheather these were actually made by peltier is another story, like we all know that marbles came from one company to another. So far unless someone comes up with more info on these i call the pelt "Purple Togas" and these look like the ones you posted. Let everyone decide on their own on this one of who made them. Chuck G--

Lets keep it going!!! How about some "Saren Getti Zebras" ( a white opaque to a transluscent base with the odd green ribbons and added black ribbon, some may have av and others dont. Chuck G--

Steph, these are way cool and i collect also mother pearl buttons of all sorts. I have a whole bread sack full of these shells like yours. . I used to pick them up in a field where they dumped them in southern Illinois. The thing about mother pearl and if its in the elements they just disolve away sooner or later. I have a hug pic frame with many pearl buttons in it and some are dyed colors and some are carved. I will re-frame it in the near future and post or send a photo to you. Chuck G--

Wow!!! I cannot believe the great looking pelts coming out for all the members to see. The fabulous photos are to show us what all is out there to look for, and there are many varieties to see. Lets keep them coming in for all to see and enjoy. Chuck G--

Mib, thats one that needs to be in hand for a better resolution. Another iding factor for pelts is a lazy S shear or seam cut on it. A single seam does reflect to CAC but i have yet seen a single shear cut on a pelt unless the two cuts become one somehow. I have found most fo the time, two cuts on pelts and sometimes they are within an eighth of an inch and also three cuts and a few four cut lines on them. Dont know for sure how this happens and i have many three cut pelts and a few four cut ones also. I love discussions like this where the insight can also come from others who have great ideas and input and we all learn something more, new and different. Its what makes the hobby so much fun. Hi Ann, this photo may not be quite up to what you wanted but here you go. The pelt "Black Universe" is sumwhat similiar in make up as the "Silver Surfer". There is a difference though. The base glass is that lightly tinted greenish to a clear base with the swirling of white and black av but the "Universe" has in addition swirling of blue av in it also. Similiar in make up but different when the added blue av comes into play. Some may want to put this in the same family type which is cool but still a different marble when comparing them. The top row, second marble from the right is the "Surfer" and the third row last marble to the right is the "Universe". These two are very hard to photo to show the true way they look. Very very nice marbles and on the htf side of pelts. Over all the years of collecting, i have seen a few here and there and most get gobbled up and kept, so they are out there. Chuck G--

Hi Ann, A lot of people call them "Halloweens". Now these could very well fall into that family but have an opalescent base and a red/orange ribbons with black ribbons. These types can be found with a little looking. I like them, especially with the opal base. Chuck G--

The previous photo is for Galen to see the graduating colors from a rich chocolate to an almost pink color palat. Chuck G--

Clyde, very good to see you join us and bring those killers forward. Now if we can get Charles W. to join us with some of his great pelts, the membbers will see some of the best vhtf pelts in the market today. Chuck G--

Clyde is exactly right on the description of the pelt "Silver Surfer". He and i have discussed this many times and i feel he is right on. There are some of these out there but vhtf. There is another pelt that kinda falls into this similiar style and its the pelt "Black Universe" and it has the same characteristics as the "Surfer but contains along with black av the blue av. In the photo, the second row bottom left is the "Surfer" and the far right end is the "Universe". Sorry the photo isnt real good. I can go farther into detail on these if you all like. This is my opinions and most of the other peltheads will most of the time agree. Chuck G--

You have made a very good point and lets us discuss the "Muddy" type pelts. Now in my opinion the color for "Muddies" or direvities of that base glass is a different formula than the chocolate ones. To point this out an example of the "Chocolate Cow" and some say like you that it has the muddy base but others like it to be the chocolate base. This is a very good discussable thread that should bring in some others for opinions. I do have examples of the discussed marbles above so lets see what the others say. We all want to learn from this. The photo has one half and half with a total chocolate base or half of it. I think this is pelt but well worth discussing with others. Chuck G--

Jeep, you are welcome. I have been watching and discussing the pelts in this type of transluscent and opaquish chocolate color wheather peltier actually used this brownish in their production runs. This is another (SLEEPER) type i have been searching for now and have found some that are far on the side of VHTF of pelts. We could sit here and argue all day long and weeks if it is actually the chocolate or burnt out red color. Does it matter???? Its chocolate and is not red by the eye. The other peltheads will most likely follow me on this discussion. The boards are a great source of learning for me as well as others who may want to collect and take this hobby way into the future. We all make mistakes now and then but as i have always said (PROVE IT), with documentation or prime examples. Example: I stumbled onto a (Miller) type swirl at the Des Moines show that has a chocolate base and colors added, its a killer and exactly what the subject is about. Another example: the peltier 10W30 Motor Motor Oil is a chocolate (transluscent) base pelt also. We are all here to learn and lets keep this going forward full force. Chuck G--

Jeeperman, nice pelts so they are. Keep the chocolate based one, these are slppers and htf. Chuck G--
