  1. So, I just had to see what was inside some marbles that I've had for over 10 years. I chose one that was one of the smallest (and slightly out-of-round), put it in a vise and hit it with a hammer a few times. They're quite hard, too. Inside looks like and feels like glass. As I stated in the title, these are HEAVY for their size. LEFT PHOTOGRAPH: The middle marble is the one that I hit with a hammer a few times. I know that the marble in the middle doesn't show much of the internal glass, but it is there. The marble on the far right is white-green with a strip of metal on the surface. The far left marble is the pink-blue-tan-white one. RIGHT PHOTOGRAPH: The two marbles on the left (now looking at the right photo) are the same two in the left photograph. The far right marble (blue-brown-white with red-green-white spots) is one of the marbles in question. For comparison in weight, I chose one of the marbles in question and then found a Marble King of the exact same size. They both measure 25/32". The Marble King weighs 32 grams and the marble in question weighs 61 grams, almost 2X the weight of the same size Marble King. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
  2. Thanks, Steph! Your ID page is awesome, by the way. Thanks for everything that you do. It's got to keep you busy, for sure. Kind Regards, <(^..^)>
  3. Hey All, I can't find a photo or description of this marble. I'm thinking Alley. Anyone else? There are two different marbles in the photos. Thanks! <(^..^)>
  4. I'm pretty sure that this is an Alley Agate "Jolly Green Giant" and it ends this evening on ebay. 27/32", NM+. Jolly Green Giant
  5. Greetings All, This marble has an excellent seam (Christensen) and long "lashes" (Akro). It certainly doesn't "corkscrew". The fourth photo shows the red going back into the marble. Regards, Confused
  6. I came across a bag of marbles with the colors of ivory-yellow, light blue, lavender, green, orange-red and a few others that are transparent with the same swirls on the outside... that swirly-syrupy look. I was reading in "Collecting Early Machine-made Marbles" (Robert S. Block) that the lavender was a run of only 45,000. Is this the real deal?
  7. This is me! I love machine made NLR Peltier, opaque Ravenswood, and flamed Alleys. Contemporary handmades are fun, too!

  9. For the past year or so I've checking the solids. Good fun and surprises.
  10. Greetings, "This is me." - Kim Luck, M*A*S*H episode I've been collecting and selling marbles for about 12 years. My fun and joy come from machine mades, especially Vitros, handpicked flames from any manufacturer as well as a few contemporary made marbles.

  12. ...is definitely the time. My Father (gremlin***) passed away in June 2015 and I inherited everything that he had in his working area in finished basement. I have been going through many boxes of marbles and also helping my Mom with items in the house. So, the situation is clear: I will be selling a majority of his collection. There is a drop in the bucket on eBay right now if you care to take a look. Thank you for your time. James
  13. Greetings Everyone, My Dad will be passing on very soon, perhaps today, yet certainly within 7 - 10 days. He has brain cancer as well as cancer in several other organs. He had surgery on May 12, 2015 and then entered a rehab unit. However, within two weeks we brought him home after a post operative MRI showed that the cancer had spread like a web through much of his body. He is at the "morphine stage" of home and Hospice care and having "petit mal seizures". He is at peace with what is to come. My dear Mother is the person who struggles the most at the current time. I have access to his Ebay account and it appears as though all transactions were completed a full month before his first doctor visit on May 10, 2015. I know that he did his best on Ebay and if any of you had an auction win from him, thank you. We had many wonderful discussions about marbles and other vintage toys. His eyes would light up like a little boy as we talked about this and many other things. Warm Regards, James
  14. Hiya, I'd love to get a copy of of that email. I bought a large group of marbles that have some similar and identical marbles to the ones shown above. Thank you!
  15. There are three groups of six red threads deepest in the marble and an outer layer made up of three bands of jelly blue that have a white opaque band on each side. I have a wood lattice outside that holds up my honeysuckle shrub. In the case of the honeysuckle shrub lattice, it is imperative that the lattice be kept strong by nailing the wood together. So, how close does a lattice need to be in regards to a German handmade marble, to be considered a lattice core? Handmade marbles are so intriguing because of how many artisans there were through the years, each with an artistic style.
