  1. Yep, the infamous "Alley patch" that years ago had many of us, myself included, considering the remote possibility that Alley made patches. Thankfully that was put to rest. So many other types of Akros were dug there as well.
  2. Chuck wuz here... And it's a vacor.
  3. Thanks Ric! Originally we thought it was a furnace, but things were wrong, like pattern and that crystal clear base glass. We pondered CAC and other makers and finally matched it up with the dug orange and yellow Ravenswoods Ron had. The added dark purplish color wasn't present on his but I later found one that had that too. It's with my Ravenswoods.
  4. Sure does. Is that transparent blue? Alley did make one similar, was unaware that JABO did too. I was assuming this was a big marble, it looks pretty huge sitting on the top of that bottle, but that could be deceptive.
  5. I agree with JABO. The touch marks are from rough handling and maybe softer glass, not sure. DAS has them too. They ding and zing and crash down ramps and baffles into the sides and each other, then drop into buckets, get stirred around and then poured from buckets into barrels, stirred around, then scooped out and poured into boxes. It's amazing any are mint when you think about it.
  6. Nice! The box looks pretty decent condition too.
  7. Holy moly Ric, that's the busiest one I've seen! Nice.
  8. I agree they are getting harder to find. The price might be worth it if it has good mibs inside. Most or all of mine have later St. Mary's marbles in them, mostly duller ones with tan/cream bases and greys and transparents with a few solids too. Sometimes you find some nice ones in them though.
  9. I see a real nice rainbo in pic 4 at lower left corner. Most in that pic shouldn't be played with.
  10. Master also sold Akros but that was later on in the 50s after Akro closed. I don't know if they sold them prior to that or not but I think not likely in the early days since Akro was trying to put Master out of business, not help them by selling them marbles.
  11. Yes, 1930s. A lot of them back then were around 21/32" instead of 5/8". Not just Master, but other companies too.
  12. I remember one similar. Don't have them in hand but it reminds me of them.
  13. No problem. These are the early ones that confuse people. Wider seams and often larger marbles during those times.
  14. Here are some examples. Sorry for the confusion. Early ones looked like Akro (they were Akro employees, so of course they would start off similarly).
  15. Today I see the one color is light blue? Last night when I looked, for some reason it looked translucent white (maybe due to lighting being low and monitor turned down). Now that I see light blue I'm going with early Master.
  16. Another cool Vitro Here's a Heaton, the vanes are just loaded AV crystals. Another green Heaton or Bogard in green base And a couple blue/yellow/brown Heatons
