Not sure about the "red comet" but I do have one w/ av. & oxblood, non uv reactive, similar I think in structure to a royal. Some sliver av as well as some dirty dark av.
Looks like a "mistake" to me as well, I agree w/ David, probably supposed to be a "naked solid core" (nice "brownish" jelly ribbon thrown into the mix to confuse even further)
Contemporary, "mica" in the transparent green, Lutz is a gold color, nice mib Jeremy

The first two are pee-wee, the pontils appear unfinished, I don't see any evidence of grinding ?? Agree, they all three look like Later Victorian era production Germans to me also.
