  1. I blew this fire opal ad up for ya Steph !! I couldn't read it without glasses, as with the firts blowup taken from the first post only a year date of 1931 was given.
  2. I stumbled onto this while researching something else marble related, a link inside a link inside yet another link, sheer luck !! I was just curious. The main website has been dead for years ☠️ I used to use it daily instead of Ebay or CW, After all that's what this forum was built on, the sharing of information in order to build a factual data base for this hobby, and have a lot of fun on the way, and a little bit of a sore back and neck Chad G.
  3. It's a first for me to Al, over 30 yrs. and never an Akro ad like that ?? I have no idea !! I think it would be a good wood burning project ? A wall hanger for the old homestead.
  4. I ran across an information gold mine, a lot to share " but " I want yours to for my folder. When I find stuff like this I'll copy all of it into a folder because as you well know sites like this disappear quickly and the information is gone forever. A blowup from the first ad page showing a date of 1931 no month was given for this picture.
  5. I have been granted the use of marble ads from said magazine year dates 1893 - 1928 with one from Akron ad from 1931 permission and my great appreciation is given to : Check out this old sales ad from a 1931 catalog. The akro logos in the upper L & R corners have "no crow" in them, A very interesting old ad. what gives ?? the magazine company or what ?? Any info would be great Here's the top blown up for a closer look
  6. Hang in there Steph, I could only get to maybe 2 or 3 , that's it, The End!! 5 - 8 yrs ago, " superman " Now I've it a brick wall " "Super" Hard, Believe me I wrote what I did for a reason.
  7. I think I opened that book once and put it away. Make that twice counting 10 minutes ago. I got it as a gift, believe me I never would have bought it, yes dark and one view pics mostly, I looked at a guinea and couldn't tell if it was real or contemp, it didn't even show the seam in that pic. Like I said good fire starter, I believe you're right the only name that stuck was robins egg, I haven't heard people call the the other names but a few times years ago..
  8. ALL OF THE NAMED HEATON ARE ON THE THREAD PROVIDED ABOVE. CHUCK AND THE OTHERS WHO DUG ARE THE ONES WHO NAMED THEM. THATS WHAT COMES ALONG WITH DISCOVERING A MARBLE YOU GET TO NAME IT. THE PIX I TOOK AREN"T THAT GREAT BUT CHUCK HAD NO PROBLEM IDENTIFYING EVERY ONE. I DIDN'T WASTE THE TIME LABELING THEM BECAUSE THEY ALLREADY ARE ON THE POSTED THREAD. SOME OF THE BEST PICS I TOOK ARE OF RARER ONES THAT ARENT NAMED YET. THAT'S PROBABLY WHY YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THEM. SO WE'LL ALL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE DIGGERS NAME EM. THE ANTICIPATION IS PART OF THE FUN. YES I HAVE THAT BOOK, IT ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT'S PRINTED ON, THE PICS ARE DARK AND BLURRY, IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT WORSE THAN MINE, GOOD FIRE STARTER, A LITTLE EXPENSIVE AT $15.00 THOUGH, STANLEY BLOCK IN MY OPINION PUT OUT SOME OF THE BEST I.D. AND PRICE GUIDE BOOKS EVER PRINTED, AT $40.00 TO $50.00 THEY MIGHT SEEM A LITTLE HIGH BUT THEY HAVE MORE THAN PAYED FOR THEMSELVES MANY TIMES OVER FOR ME. LINK : https://marbleconnection.com/topic/26001-named-heaton-types/
  9. I got these from the people at the last two digs, Chuck has listed all known named Heaton, the rest I have pics of are either rare or remain unnamed. I've only taken pics of about a 10thof the mibs I have, lots of cleaning sorting and making flats. I won't be done for a while. Chucks list is quite complete and there are plenty of unnamed ones on the other Heaton thread he has as well. Eventually yes they will all be named, there's a good deal of people thinking up names as we speak, the diggers will agree on a name and then move on to the next one, some will probably never be named, just Heatons.
  10. Your welcome !! Check out these 3 Akro patches, one has an ade base and the other 2 have an ace base, can you tell the difference ?? Here's the answer, the same 3 mibs under a fluorescent tube, this may surprise you !! The big ones a nice 3/4 inch shooter, the other 2 are 5/8ths, the size has no bearing, I've had them both over an inch. A very subtle color difference in the glass you will learn to recognize over time
  11. Looks almost like an opaque clown type to me, well worth the $5.00 you paid " very nice " A keeper fer shur
  12. Like I said, hang on to everything in good shape, even some cats I've seen go for $10 to $20.00, crazy. You couldn't give them away when I started. I probably dumped 30 - 40 gallons of them out or gave them away to my grand kids and cousins over the years, if I would have kept them all I'd be chest deep in marbles, there is a limit. Chad G.
  13. I luv rainbows, like I said endless. one of a kinds can still happen collecting them. If you ever get one with a streak of metalic or oxblood, or both, one riding beside the other, hang onto it, I sold a old 2 gallon green glass canning jar with the zinc lid clear full of rainbows for $50.00 metalics, ox multi, bifurcates, you name it a killer jar of rainbows It took near 20 yrs to fill with the most abstract bows I could find, that was 10 yrs ago, try and get those bows now. Next to impossible because everyone has started collecting them. And the people that have the ones like I had are holding onto them like a barnacle on a ship. You couldn't pry them out of their hands with a crow bar. Marbles are fun for me, the thrill of the chase and satisfaction of getting a real killer. But in the end just a piece of glass, all perspective !! metalic rainbow with a tiny tracer of oxblood riding alongside, this isn't my mib but I had many just like it, probably 15 with both, VVVHTF rainbow with both, this one is courtesy of "Marble Alans Marble Identification Guide" Here's the link. Alan Basinet passed away in 2012 and they keep this site up and running in memorandum of him, the loss of a great asset to the marble community, This site is a great place to start. Craig just got done reformatted and updating the site last week, and will keep updating as new info is revealed. Check it out !! LINK :https://buymarbles.com/marblealan-peltier.html
  14. Nice new avatar "Bruce" I almost didn't recognize ya, tryin to pull a fast one on me.
  15. As the New Year approaches, the tension is High "Big Wishes" "Unreal Resolutions" and "Far Fetched Promises" all part of each individuals great " Master Plan " Choose ye now whom ye shall serve !! Have you made your "resolution" yet The decision you make now may affect the rest of your life !!
  16. Both Akro, and they shouldn't glow, an ade base has a much different base, the newer uv glass doesn't glow from depleted uranium like the old ade glass and has a clearer base to it than the older stuff. You can see the difference in base glass in the examples I'll show. At 29/32 this one is quite a bit larger and HTF without damage Next, 7/8ths and green instead of blue 5/8ths slight streaks of ox with an egg yolk patch, if this where heavier like the first one and bigger a nice VHTF mib None of these three are uv reactive, I've never had one like this that was, kind of an ace looking opaque base to these, never seen one with an ade base. I've had many akro ade patches in every color imaginable. Akro made patches way before they made corkscrews, that was their big seller which they were very proud of until they started making corks. I'll post a few ade patches for ya to gander at. I hope this helps ya out a little bit with some of your I.D.'s Deanna ?? These are all Akro uv. ade patches, Highly uv. reactive, 2 Cherryade a limeade a lemonade and a VVHTF white uv. patch And a few more, with a VVHTF blueberry ade patch along with 2 lemonade ALL of these ades light up like the sun under uv. light like this cherryade
  17. I don't believe it's oxblood, you can see through it in places, real oxblood even when backlit can't be seen through, I'm no familiar with it but it's not Akro, and it looks newer to me. Someone will drop in with the correct I.D.
  18. I keep em all, rainbows are coming into their own. Their very beautiful mibs, just like any mib there are rare rainbows as well. They're kinda like Akro prize name corkscrews, just when you think you've seen it all 10 or 15 more pop up, " innumerable combos " mibs I could get any day of the week 20 yrs. ago are like unicorns now. Thank You to for the pics Deanna, " keep em rollin " marble on !!
  19. Not that great of a cleaning job I know but they'll get there. Most are named some aren't. I cleaned a couple more flats last night, A bunch of volcanoes 🌋 a few fire crackers 💣 some other named and some really nice oddballs' The pics are comin I'm just a little slow 🐢 gettin there !! The little wooden Heaton sign and a bunch more, two for every manufacturer were made for me by a very good friend, a very nice little touch to the old display. Right now I'm " HEATON HAPPY "
  20. x 2., pelt but not a sunset, just a rainbow
  21. Chad G.

    Dear Santa

HAPPY NE. .....!! Oh my !!! It's almost time and the baby new year is well prepared, let me assure you, it's very safe, didn't you watch all those people on tv getting injections of water ??
  22. Deanna, go to the header "General Marble Glass Chat" under " Named Heaton Types" page 2, for a rundown on all the named Heaton types and pics thus far from Chuck S. - aka - ( cheese )
  23. I've been bit by multiple bugs as well, toys, comics, fishing gear etc... The mib bug seems to have bitten hardest and the itch just won't go away, a lifelong hobby for sure !! Can't wait to see pics of the new mib Deanna.
  24. Can't think of anything better to do than to get the creative juices flowing and keep busy during this stinking virus. "Great work Chuck" an excellent wall hanger for sure Wish I still had my shop. Spent 4 - 5 hours last night reorganizing my curios and putting a couple hundred mibs in foam, getting ready to build some display flats. Space is, how shall I put it " at a premium " already filled my wall mount, gonna wok on a kind of drawer display, lotsa time to think and tinker. Doin is much better than mildewin.
  25. A pic of the Jorkscrew patterned Jabo's. Sorry Bruce, not a very good pic but the best I could muster and the most common one everybody uses for I.D ing them, more views would be great, supposedly the colors never continued to the other pole, sometimes turning back on themselves or just ending halfway, I'm not that familiar with them just going on what I've seen posted and the relatively few pictures available. I'm not aware if there where any uv. or not, I would say more than likely yes, just judging by the great mass of marbles Jabo has produced.
