Something we low-end collectors can be good for
akroorka replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Good job Steph! A pat on the back is much better in this case.👍 "You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink" Marble--On!!- 1 reply

It is a killer Pelt--maybe I am too old--These days--who knows. Marble--On!!

I agree with Ric--True Peewees are 1/2" or less---no squeezing the calipers. Just not peewees that you have--close is no cigar it is a requirement. Still pretty small for an Akro cork! Marble--On!!

I have not seen any Akro literature listing sizes for sale that included anything under #00 or 9/16”. That being said, The Popeye boxes were filled with a peewee placed on top of the pouch. As I recall they were Popeye Patch types. Collectors call the little ones Swee’ Pea after Popeyes little (adopted) Son/Pal. 9/16” Akros are a hard find for me unless they are the “oxblood patch” type which seems to have quite a few in this size. The thing is, if Akro produced 9/16” marbles there are bound to be a few peewees floating around. That is just the way in the manufacturing of marbles. I have seen a few peewee patches—never a corkscrew--- in my hand anyhow. So yes—they are pretty rare imho. Always check a rare peewee of any maker for any signs of polishing. Marble—On!!

This is ours tonight--just a Killer recipe-UMAMI to the Max Pasta with Tuna • 16 ounces linguine or other long pasta • 1/2 cup olive oil • 6 garlic cloves, minced • 1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper • 2-12-ounce cans albacore tuna packed in water, drained • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice • 4 teaspoons grated lemon peel • 1 lb frozen greens (thawed, chopped and squeezed of excess moisture) • Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite, stirring occasionally. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup cooking liquid. • Return pasta to pot. • Meanwhile, heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and crushed red pepper. Sauté 30 seconds. Add tuna, and greens then stir to heat through. • Add tuna mixture, lemon juice, and lemon peel to pasta. Toss over low heat about 2 minutes. Add reserved pasta cooking liquid to moisten. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve.

This was a mistake for sure--not quite sure how it happened--I am "glazed" as well🤪. I just copy and paste. Marble--On!!

I have a hard time finding oxblood here too Chad—it is just “I think that it is” based on experience. These “Milkies” are some of the worst runs made by Akro imho. Some are just great—most just suck with folds and creases galore. Marble –On my friend!!

The left one is a WVS--of some sort ( i suck at wvs id) The middle one is a slag---a very well filled slag-- these well filled slags could be from anyone. The third one is a guess--a slag of some sort. Marble--On!!

I posted a few yesterday and this one received some attention so here goes! I put my scopes on for this post. This one is just over ¾”—out of round with “crowd marks” like a Bennington. I measured the marks and they are all over the place so I will call them fire marks or crowded marks as opposed to them sitting on a devise made for firing, it did not meet any rollers. I thought that it felt light weight wise so I compared it to a “Benny” the same size—it was the same—in grams. This marble has what I would call a light glaze for a finish. Ric spotted the “20” mark—good eye—I missed it (We all know that @Ric looks closely but that was spectacular) I missed it. It is just part of the over color or striping—quite cool really! You are seeing all four sides—Thanks and---- Marble—On!!

I am posting this one in the ID section--tell me what you think-- Thanks and-- Marble--On!!

If that is oxblood it could be an Akro "Milkie", they were all over the place with coverage from a tad to a lot. Marble--On!!
