Don't like catseyes? Maybe this will change your mind
akroorka replied to davesnothere's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I would never call any marble posted as ugly--maybe mugly, such as in damaged marbles--or oogliy. Nice images for sure. Find anyone here that will not call Master Glass marbles ugly and I will send a bag or two. Master Glass probably made the worst looking ever cats eyes in history. I have collected them for years--I am just looking for that special one-or two. Believe it or not there were fakes of these less than desirable bags made. Maybe @Al Oregon has some input here. They do existšµāš«. The great ones. It just takes a lot of sorting. Marble--On!! -

This one came from a bag from Eliziabeth Kempski, the queen of cats. Marble--On!! -
The first one is a Pelt Rainbo and I believe that this one is that one that you have on your flashlight. The clear based one is a hard tell.( I think that it is an asian cateye) The other two are what I would call Vacor. MarbleāOn!!

These Peltier Christmas trees came in a variety of hues of colors. Some were dull and some were more brightly coloredāsome, such as the Burnt Christmas Trees which are even less colorful, but still a nice find are a nice marble to hold and look at. I believe that yours is a Pelt on the duller side and lacking any good fill with the colors. Nice find! MarbleāOn!!

This one does not fit into the almost "super" catogorie. Just a Nice Rainbo! Marble--On!!

Nice find from the garden for sure. I find these garden marbles all of the time--not this nice though. Not a helmet imho, but close enough to call it a "garden helmet". Marble--On!!

Nice cats! I have always been partial to the ugly cats that Master Glass made---kinda like a last ditch effort to keep up with the influx of Japenese made and an underdog as well. Here is one that is special--you really have to pick through these to find one like this. Marble--On!! -

Amazon Fire. At first I made a print--it faded out, these are metal and it worked on day two-some guy on a motorized skate board(really)?? We had some hail damage in the area last year and I was constanly getting bugged about a new roof. One guy put his foot in the door--with me! (Instant Pissed) I payed up for nice expensive roofing about three years ago. No damage here. I was more worried about my windows-bang, bang, Bang--I guess that I did them right too. The clicker was when some old dude ( yah, I am old too but this guy pissed me off and I will not be pushed around) selling religion got in my face through the screen door about reading the Bible (nothing against that--just stay out of my face and do not judge me--or get angry with me). I am glad that the ladies stayed in the carš. I am a nice guy--I think--but limits are limitsš.

I built a spring up table on the coffee table--in front of the TV--we have date night every night. When we eat at the Kitchen table, we call it a party. I do not mind a brain teaser here and there--just keep on coming back--and sort some marbles for whatever reason. I am not in sales--you should see the sign on my front door. Marble--On!!

I thought Atmospheres were Machine Made
akroorka replied to Fire1981's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
There were 18 varieties of these according to my paperwork. I always suspected that the bigger ones were sold in gift shops along with the weirder stuff that I show in these images--no proof yet. Marble--On!! -
This one is a big Jabo imho--"Classic" as made from the production runs--not from the "Special Runs". I apreciate all opinions and hope to see some more. Marble--On!!

Good ask here and once again great images. It is so close to being a CAC that I will ask for help. The blue does not seen to have to opaque qualities that I would expect in a CAC. Maybe @Alan has a response here? Marble on!!

āVitro Helmetsā are usually transparent based with a stripe or āthe top of a football helmetā running through the white. You will have to envision a football helmet from the 60ās to get a better idea. If you look at them from the stripe, front to back, you will usually see the little ears that represent the sides of a football helmet. I have posted a few examples. Marble--On

Not right in the least. I have always looked forward to your posts. "This too shall pass". I cannot speak for @Fire1981 (well maybe a littleš) but if you need some to look at--I will send some--a box full. I am trying hard not to get political here--not accepted @TheMarbleConnection ( stay out of the politics everyone--I will delete it )--but this will pass also, politics. You need a good fix with marbles? I am there for you and you will not be dissapointed. Just PM me your address and the game is on! I encourage everyone to send a few up north to our old friend @davesnothere. Marble--On!!.

Total Vacor āIn the pit you goā
akroorka replied to Fire1981's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Pretty cool "Hurricane" Fire. Thats what I would call it at least. I love a good mistake and so does Fire. Who knows how Vacor disgards marbles? I always suspected that they tumbled their rejects and "frosted them". It could be an open pit for all that I know. Nice stuff Fire! Marble--On!! -

akroorka replied to Fire1981's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Handgathered and Machine rounded is the right response. The sizes in these vary so much that it is only explained by a handgathering process We are talking about the Toys R Us marbles here--- the 1" (give or take). There was a special mail in offer to get two larger sizes around 2" and around 1--3/4". Vacor sizes are in "MM" (25mm for the little ones)and I am too lazy today to look them up. These larger ones look much more refined ( I only have one of each) but Vacor was the one company that could pull it off at the time. It seems to me that @stephenb ( respect!) was down in Mexico at the plant researching all sorts of marbles. He may have received some wrong info here. @Melissa has a nice collection of these--maybe she will step in with some wisdom from her collection. Here are the three sizes that I own. Marble--On!! -
Sweet for sure! I do not recall seeing one like it before. They are "Classic" Akro cutlines though. Top Notch!! Marble--On!!
