Thanks Chad, When you only have one to compare with none it is just a hard thing. What do you think about #2. WV swirls are not an easy thing for me to ID. I know one when I see one but to ID to a specific company is a rough one for me. Marble--On!!!

Hello to all of you WV Wednesday marble lovers. I just felt like posting three today, it could be the weather. (Yes, I had to shovel snow today) The first is 7/8” a bit beat up but no apologies. This is the only one that I have seen. Alley? The second one is 5/8”.It looks like it wants to glow under UV but it does not. Ravenswood? The third one—well---just a killer marble. 9/16” No guess or ID from me on this one. As always, any and all opinions are appreciated, from any and all. Marble—On!!

Images 3 and 4 are just reeee---aaly nice.----Vitro? Marble-On!!!

That second marble deserves another post or group of images--They are all nice but that one splits my mind. Marble--On!!

You have great instinct Chad. I would start comparing this one to more Veliglas marbles and form my own opinion. I think that you know what it really is and I support that. Marble--On!!

Thanks Steph, I was almost hoping for a blow hole or bubbles to help me ID it as a Pelt. Whatever it is, it is one that is still a conundrum to me. (one blow hole/bubble would have done it for me) I have compared it to Pelts of this base color—not close enough. This was a hard one to get a true image of but it is pretty close. As always, I appreciate any opinions on any marbles that I post. We all---All, endeavor to learn. Marble—On!!

Thanks William, It is a swirl, not an Akro. I still think that it is an older marble--not Jabo. You may have to sit on this one awhile. I will give it a bump though. Marble--On!!

Imperial x2. It is great to see that marble makers around the world have trouble with green colors. This type of AV shows up in green more often than in any other color. Some may call it "excess colorant". Non-the-less it is cool to find in any make or model. Marble--On!!!

I agree with Al. There are a lot of "gamers" with glow to them. Marble--On!!

It is great to see all of the Pelt-heads coming out of their burrow today—I love to see them all—keep-em coming!! My first one comes in at 5/8”—I just like the color combo—love it. The second is clear based at 13/16”—a really nice marble to hold and look at with a backlight. Marble—On!!

I feel it too Steph, the lack of urge for hunting marbles. Sometimes I just want to put together a jigsaw puzzle—especially in the winter months. I do not mean to tempt you, but---I was going through a bunch of slags that I had not looked at for—well---a long--long time. I found three pinch pontils and two—believe it or not-- Cornhusks. (I must have thought at the time that they were transitional slags) I love “cornhusks” and hunt them today! It is a good thing to look backward sometimes and relish in the education/knowledge that I have taken for granted in this great hobby. Re-load and be rewarded. Marble—On and Jigsaw on as well!!!

The best way is to roll each one in tissue, pack them in a vacuum bag and seal it. If you do not have access to a vacuum sealer, then as you suggested, roll each one in tissue, wrap them in bubble stuff and wrap them with tape really tight, then pack these well with anything to keep them from bouncing around or moving. Make sure to put plenty of energy absorbing matter on the bottom, top and all sides. Box them, with plenty of tape---- no padded mailers. If anyone complains about over packing---they are just natural complainers. I do not think that you will have any problems. Marble—On!!

If these two landed in my lap I would sort them as WVSwirls. (no maker ID from me) Marble--On!!

This one has been a conundrum for me. I have always thought that it sure looked like a “Berry Pink”. The trouble is that it is just under 5/8”. “Berry Pinks” should be at least “shooter” sized from what I can gather. Tell me what you think. Marble—On!!

Hello dannyboy, I would have a hard time not calling this one a one--off pelt "Red Zebra". A very cool looking marble indeed! Is there any Aventurine? I would love to see some more images of this one. Marble--On!!!

Hello William, I would sort this--regardless of fleas--as a double seam slag. Could be from a few different makers. Marble--On!!!

I should have added the anealing or cooling process as well Dave. The slower that glass cools, the better the end product. Check out these two videos, one from Jabo and one from a Chinese operation. This is just my feel/experience Dave. Jabo, are "softer glass" imho" More likely to bruise than get a small chip/fleabite. When I see flea bites or dimples I am always looking at a more vintage or a harder "cooked" marble. Vintage makers were making marbles to compete with actual stone agates. The more durable the better, given the times. The colors prove what they wanted to achieve, along with the assigned names from the history of earlier machine made marbles. At 5/8" this would have to be a "stellar" Jabo. If it was closer to 1”, I might call it a Jabo myself. I just call them like I see them. Marble—On!!

I would like to see some more images of this one. I would not call it an Akro but I think that your hard-lighting may have leared some folks toward Jabo. Try some natural light images. There is a dimple in your third image and a flea bite on the second one that stears me away from Jabo. I am getting a more vintage feel from this one. Marble--On!!

I would say Imperial (asian), just because of the rough cutline on a marble of this size. Vacors seen to get more pronounced cutoffs/seams in the larger ones more often than in these smaller ones. Marble--On!!
