I want to call this oxblood--not too sure though. Not an Akro IMHO. Nice marble--WVS in my opinion. All opinions are appreciated. Marble--On!!

Oxblood August, It kind-of rhymes.akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat I have rescued cats, dogs, turtles in the road and a variety of other critters that just, well needed it—why not a marble? I figured that this one would end up in a landfill if I did not bring it home and I believe that it deserves it. I posted this one a while back, these are new images. I have not put this one away since I received it and today I really checked it out. Two ground pontils and a hair under 1 inch. Any advice on it’s maker is appreciated. Marble—On!!

Yes, I thought the same thing—Polished in a bad manner. I magnified this one and found an original dimple with smooth edges. “Pocket Wear” it is. It is now with my “Coral” collection --- I just love Coral colored marbles. Marble—On!!

Updated a few weeks ago. A Wisconsin farmer on the local Green Bay news claiming that it should be chest high but the fourth of July. Who Knew?

Good to hear about a Kingfisher, they took a bad hit from DDT just as the Bald Eagles did. I saw one just lately myself. They used to be quite common when I was a kid. I love the woodpecker-like noise that they make.

I made a rule once I passed 60, always wear a shirt outside---no matter how much I look like the Hulk🤢. Keep on keepin on!

Vacor literature describes marbles manufactured at 35mm and 42mm. Close enough to yours to make me believe that they came from Mexico. Left to right A big Vacor “Cat’s eye”, A Vacor “Old Fashion” then a Vacor “Blue Ice2”. Marble—On!!

Many makers used opalescent glass. There are always a few exceptions to this idea but most did at one time or another. It was purchased as cullet from a variety of other glass companies. I do not know if CAC had any opalescent marbles. I believe that they just used their own recipes for glass—of course I could be wrong on this. It is always a bonus to find opal in a marble that is why “I backlight them all”!! Marble—On!!

Oxblood August, It kind-of rhymes.akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat I have seen a few like this and the Oxblood is always broken out. This is my best. A good example of how Oxblood lies/floats over the surface of the base glass and is not always the most durable of glass, I suppose it depends on what the base glass is as well. This color did not work too well with Oxblood imho. Still, a very pretty combo, and I just love it. Marble—On!!

Vacor left , Vacor right---the middle one needs some better images. Marble—On!!

Atmosphere maybe? idk but very curious on this one. Thanks!akroorka replied to NeozLilBallz's topic in Marble I.D.'s The smallest Atmospheres are one inch or 25 mm plus or minus because they where hand gathered. Marble—On!!

I agree Kiln Brick pieces. That is a cool marble and one that we do not see every day. Here is my best—WVS and a bump. More opinions are needed. Marble—On!!

I would sort the left one as a Vitro and the right one as a WVS Both are nice marbles. More opinions are needed. Marble—On!!

I am glad that you explained the green. Lavender in any marble is a great thing. Just lately a lavender and yellow Akro cork blew my mind for the price on ebay. I think that it may have been a Popeye without any wispy white—killer marble, but—holy cow! Here is a link https://www.ebay.com/itm/134181918014?hash=item1f3ddd953e%3Ag%3Ai48AAOSw~Whi3ucM&nma=true&si=ZhKmy9VdU5ZKV2x8yFb2Bb9YUSU%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Marble—On!!

Do not despair; I still have to wrap my head around the difference between an Akro Patch and a Master Patch sometimes. The ID that I gave for your “Champion” was just a gut feeling, it could be one of another makers but I would sort it as a Champion. I always welcome more opinions. Marble—On!!

The white in this marble fluoresces under UV light; I could not get a great shot for some reason. Marble—On!!

Oxblood August, It kind-of rhymes.akroorka replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat This one is just under 5/8” and almost perfect, the smallest that I have ever seen. Yes, it is a corkscrew. Oxblood on!! and Marble on as well!!

Yes on the Peltier Peerless patch, it is a bigger one and it just takes some experience to spot these, all seams aside. Some have little coverage and some have great coverage---yours is a great size--- and just a great looking marble for a patch--just great! Some but not all Akro Corkscrews fluoresce under UV light with a variety of colors. Yours is an Akro cork—no doubt in my mind. Corkscrews will also show up with opalescence. That is why I always backlight them all and hit them with UV. Marble—On!!

The first one, blue and yellow. Did Pelt Peerless patches come this big? The second one is a nice corkscrew. More opinions are needed and welcomed. Marble—On!!
