  1. I was unaware that there have been COE issues in the recent runs. How prevalent is this (if anyone knows)? Has any particular run been affected more than another?
  2. The marbles are what they are. I don't pay extra for stories. The longer a story is that comes with a marble - the harder I look at it.
  3. Its new enough that the word vintage doesn't apply.
  4. Not sure why you mean by "messy". Its torched.
  5. Scott: Plan ahead for the Columbus, OH show. It is worth the time/trip.
  6. I recommend spending time at marbles shows handling marbles and discussing the many variants of a single type with experienced collectors. Learning to ID marbles from photos is the pathway to mis-identification. I am convinced that the reason Ebay is so full of mis-identified marbles is that inexperience people buy a book (or look online) and try to match what they have with the closest looking marble (usually by color alone) that is worth a lot. There is no substitute for handling tens of thousands of marbles and looking at their nuances and variations to get a feel for the fine art of identification.
  7. If there are any that are properly identified - I didn't see them.
  8. Akro DIs are generally around 3/4" or so. I have a well-rounded one that is well over an inch...but those are rare.
  9. Here are a few more. Note that most DIs are misshapen:
  10. An ingot is a measure of glass equal to the size (mass) of the marble intended to be produced. It is normally sheared and put on rollers to impart the round shape. A "double ingot" occurs when (usually) two separate measures of glass intended to form two separate marble stick together and get rolled into one. The result usually has a clearly defined hemisphere where they came together. Almost all of these came from factory digs. Here are a two examples of double ingots:
  11. On Ebay - that would probably be listed as a Sulphide. :Sad_headshake_tweetz:
  12. I'm going on the assumption that it is the size of a standard Tribute run. I know those numbers.
  13. Good pics nutz - thanks for sharing them. I think its important to have good pics of what comes out of these runs....including major variations.
  14. Putting the pattern aside for a moment (since so much dug Akro has surfaced...and dug examples seldom follow conventional pattern) - the glass appears consistent with Akro. AD's comment about it being similar to Popeye glass combos is accurate.
  15. It doesn't appear to have nearly enough yellow in it for it to be Vaseline glass. It is also more opaque than transparent. Akro Vaseline glass is highly transparent.
  16. Thanks for the pics. Roughly how big was the run?
  17. Thanks for posting the pics. Roughly how many were produced in this run? Has the run been named? Alan
  18. These are some nice Imperials I purchased from Roger Hardy last month. He found them (and some other very nice marbles) in a private stash at a former Akro employee's home.
