Found My Own Estate Sale Marbles
PittsburghMarbles replied to Fire1981's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
No such thing as a MK bumblebee 8, just a bumblebee. At least not to my knowledge. Also the MK bumblebees are very common and still made to this day, or at least made until recently. -
Found My Own Estate Sale Marbles

So those are the infamous not well known Canadian made marbles? When do those date from and is it known from where in Canada they come from? Im sure I have a few of those in my thousands of unidentified mibs as I'm pretty sure Ive seen those before. -

Transparent Peltier Rainbos and Cat's eyes
PittsburghMarbles replied to InkspotAntiques's topic in Marble I.D.'s
I have no idea what 5 is (dont think its MK), but 6 id def go with vitro. 4; Im not seeing pelt, not sure what I'm seeing either. But if I had that marble it would be in one of my unknown holders, it kinda looks like a foreign made marble to me. 3 is weird too, Id go like 60 percent chance its a pelt. -
Id agree that those two are prob alleys, the one in the back to my looks jabo, however it seems to also have a straight seam line, which jabos dont so I have no idea.

Helping Needed in Marble Identification
PittsburghMarbles replied to theteaman's topic in Marble I.D.'s
I see 1 or 2 masters (perhaps the one that has a little bit of the slight red color in it and the one right to the south west of it in the first photo and the same marble that's south by west of it in the second photo), the rest foreign. Although since the one or two I think are masters are surrounded by the rest European Whisplers, then they're probably foreign too... and one inch masters are pretty hard to come by in my experience. -
That's no slag... unnamed by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr But actually, it's an alley most likely.
-
The red one in the dish at first I thought may be a CAC slag but I dont think. Id have to see more angles on it. Sorta looks like a funky pelt rainbo. The red slag in the same photo at the bottom is most likely a nice akro slag.

I had to run upstairs to look, here's some of the 1960s or so Champions I bought from him 2 weeks ago. And all of the mibs in that giant bucket of mibs were marbles he purchased from Champion Agate in the late 60's. Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr I dont know though, they look a tad bit different than yours posted perhaps but not really. I'd go with Champion but I guess yours could be vitros or Akros too ugh, sometimes patches are so freakin ridiculous.
-
Those look like Champions to me... I bought some marbles a couple of weeks ago from Roger Hardy (dude that has the best akro collection in the world) at his antique store in Clarksburg and he has a huge bucket full of 1960s Champion marbles and some I got look identical to those. And he knows his mibs.

Great tri-lite. There's prob a more specific name for this certain tri-lite but I dont know. Alls that I know is that its a great mib.

All marble kings.

Too many to tell you what they are, but there's about ten or so pretty good marbles in there.

44944710_10217132279315959_4124614522080067584_n by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr Me from a few months ago when the bars finally opened up again. I mean I would prefer to be able to afford handmade marbles but since I can't afford too many I mainly stick to machine mades. My favorite machine mades are prob Ravenswoods.
-
^ Thank you. Found a Ravenswood Red Raven in a jar about 2 months ago, never thought I'd find one of those in the wild in a million years. I think it's the 22nd photo in my above series. Also found a pretty rare for America, a German striped opaque, think its the 37th photo. Got those marbles in that photo out of a guys collection that was in a fishing lure box. He had some really nice CAC's too in there and even a Kokomo.

Since Im new here, Ill share all my scores since about April this year from jar finds and antique stores. I go out every weekend driving all over creation in the search for marbles and I'm lucky since I live so close to WV. A 1930s or so solitaire box full of all Japanese Transitional marbles and for 15 bucks, I couldn't believe it. Found it in Niagara, NY. Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr This nice akro ash tray for 5 bucks at a glass show. Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr The rest are jar finds and most of the jars were under 15 bucks from garage sales and antique stores. Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr Untitled by Pittsburgh Marbles, on Flickr Got these pelts out of three jars from one garage sale and for next to nothing, don't think Ill ever get that lucky again. ^ Thanks for that, never knew JABO had an Oxblood run like that. -
🤪😑😬😮😒🥴 ☹️ I never use emojis, I think this actually my first time ever on any platform but I don’t think this forum can accommodate gifs so that’s how I feel about those Oxblood JABOs…

Did Leighton work at The American Marble and Toy Manufacturing? I thought they mostly made clay marbles, like the Akron roller, is that perhaps where Leighton started?
