  1. Marbles are unfortunately rarely black or white. There are many shades of gray. Not like a baseball card or coin for identification. Grading is a bit like CAC marbles, where everyone thinks they have one, even when they don’t. Everyone thinks they have a mint marble, even when they don’t. There are some fairly good grading guidelines, but not everyone agrees and it seems to be subjective depending upon whether you are a buyer or seller. I understand your pain, but even if a committee was formed, I seriously doubt there would be a large majority of collectors who would embrace their decisions. When you read the threads on TMC or AAM, the experts are often very divided. I was in medicine for 45 years and there is a saying, “ there’s no always and no never in medicine.” Seems to be somewhat true with marbles.
  2. I’ve worked with Bob Block buying for 25+ years and highly recommend him for buying and appraising marbles.

Second photo looks like a Heaton “ear”
  4. I had the same thing happen to me today.
  5. Sorry but the post showed up again like I didn’t submit it! It is cool, however!
  6. 23/32” 5-color Akro Special corkscrew
  7. Nice score William! Ashtrays are getting harder to find in the wild and Scotty dogs are nearly never complete, yet alone finding a top or bottom by themselves.
  8. Ron, you’re a national marble treasure! Thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge and exu!
  9. WOW!! 😳 Beautiful examples of CAC flames!
  10. An excellent primer on different company’s oxblood!
  11. CAC flames tend to be wider and spaced apart further than Alley and taper more. Also, the Christensen white is usually much whiter.
  12. Agree x 2, and ? MK for last one, based on it having different ribbons IMO. Love to hear others thoughts.
