  1. both of these have "tails" which start at the top, swirl around the marble, and end back up over the "9". this on is 13/16" and although it has a crease type pontil, it appears to have been made of a higher quality of glass than what i'm used to seeing in the foreign types (if that makes sense). this one is 1 1/4" and is very, very, dark purple. it has a melted pontil but appears to be made of the softer type glass like the german made clambroths (again, if that makes sense). thanks.
  2. thank you very much guys. you have been a big help. once again, even an old dog can learn a new trick. thanks.
  3. thank you charles. i've tried that and i can get the pic into box where you can enlarge it. but i have seen auctions where another pic or pics show up in the text part of the auction, if that makes sense(?). that's what i am trying to do. thanks.
  4. can anyone tell me how to add a pic to the "description" part on ebay? thank you.
  5. most excellent marble there bj. very hard to find in that size and without the as-made pitting found in most of this type of marble. here is a similar one, no where near the design as yours, and is 23/32". thanks.
  6. if there is one thing that i have learned about grading marbles on ebay it is "forget about the grading!". no matter how hard you may try, your grading will not be the same as mine, his, her's, or thier's. i believe the best way to go is to descirbe any damage, flaws, as-mades, etc, and try to show them clearly in your pictures. this way you can let the buyer decide on the condition/grade, "if" they take the time to read your description and look at your pics. thanks.
  7. cool. i'll give ya hollar. thanks.
  8. ya think it's an akron mib? everything is for sale, for the right price. or maybe i'll just donate it to the shop. if i ever get over this lousy head cold i'll drop ya a pm and we can set up a meet. thanks.
  9. found another one: 1 1/2" and "maybe" this one: 1 5/16" thanks.
  10. fwiw: sold this one on ebay in 2007 for a little over 400 bucks. box looks to be in the about same condition. this group looks interesting, is that a guinea in there? http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/1045776/fp106.cgi thanks.
  11. might be worth the trip. http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=1052405&fe=132432&txtSearchKeywords=marbles&txtSearchZip=44310&idxSearchCategory=0&txtSearchRadius=0 thanks.
  12. here is what i understood be be a blood and bone. opaque, creamy light tan(that glows), and opaque red. i have only seen this type in larger sizes. this one is 15/16". thanks.
  13. cac roadrunner: cac alien: cac impostor: thanks
  14. i believe both the board and agates are modern. possibly from brazil(?). however, for 2 bucks, ya got a good deal. thanks.
  15. stacy; you may be a little disappointed if you make the drive all the way from dayton to akron for just the museum. don't get me wrong, it is quite interesting and like said before brian and michael have done a very nice job putting it together. the marbles are from akron (mfc and others) and from surrounding cities such as navarre and barberton. the other parts of the museum shows the history of other manfacturing/rubber plants as well as the city of akron itself. however, if you plan on going to the canton marble show in june, it is about a 20 minute drive from there and well worth the trip. thanks.
  16. don't know if their "evidence" is proof enough, but(?) http://www.rothchildeantiques.com/CivilWarCampRelics.html
  17. alot would depend on the detail of the figure(s) and condition of the marble. i would think the donkey would bring more than the parrot. sulphides have been falling in price for sometime now. if you find a price guide, an up-to-date one, expect about 1/3 of the book price. without seeing them i would guess in the price range of $100 to $150. maybe more if you can find the right collector that needs a parrot or donkey for their collection. thanks.
  18. v is for vitro, with wrinkles: thanks.
  19. some may be for the better and some for the worse. some may have numbers, faces, or images on them. some have something odd on or in them. some may be just plain weird. peltier peerlees patch. superboy colors and corks a little more than half way around the marble. thanks.
  20. best i could do duff. looks like it had to something to do with glass(?). thanks.
  21. can't even try to compete with youse guys, but here's one i like. 13/16" thanks.
  22. couple more. (or maybe i just like talking to myself) mfc 1 1/4" and the eulsive white/clear mfc: 23/32" thanks.
