Here's a rare example that's not exactly a Popeye, or is it? I think these were discovered around 1997/8 and were call 'Akro Experiential Oxblood'. Danney Turner: Running Rabit auctions had a few of these. Danny has always been the best and I think the namesake came from whoever he'd sold it for B/C he knows Oxblood like no other seller. I'd bought out a marble buddy's collection, he'd got it from Turner. Yet, you see any brown/red? Neither do I B/C there ain't no Oxblood. Rather, there's a most unusual special red, like no other. There's more color than meets the eye. White,, clear, a layer of bubbly green blue translucent and red. It's not a corkscrew either, or is it? It is like two complete strands each have their own twist entangled together. I can not imagine how this happened. How they twisted and came together. I mean, that's not how Barker's spinning cup works at all. It makes patches, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 1 and as much as two full twists all at the same time it's operating. This is just plain weird. Size 3/4" Not exactly a Popeye. However, as they go it's the only place or verity Akro made that it fits into. Go figure? 'Experiential Popeye' is more like it and are very rare. BTW, I put copy rites only so that it stops somebody from profiting from my photo. I do not mind if peeps save for their own use, sharing.

I thought, in the 1960's that Marble King used labels on their Rainbow Reds. Yet, searching the net for a bag comes up empty. As I grew up, in my neighborhood and school Marble King Patch and ribbon, Cub Scout, Girl, Spiderman, etc. were the preferred choice. The Cornett 5&10 stocked them. All the other makers were inside the grocery store, those were the cheap ones. Whenever MK made the Rainbow reds, nobody wanted them. I remember after 6th grade; my older by 2 years brother and I were in the 5 and dime and they had new bags of patch and ribbons with some Cub Scouts. It was a real surprise to see because, once rainbow reds came out you could not get a new patch and ribbon anywhere. , I wanted to buy a bag, at least. Tried to get my bother interested but, me going into Jr High, 7th grade, no more marble games, Kids were too old to play. I could swear Rainbow Red bags were labeled as such as that's also what kids called them. Anybody ever seen one? A MK bag labeled 'Rainbow red'

It's an Old school thing Melissa. USA has been trying to make the transition too metrics for about a half century. Ain't a chance in H. U gonna get a bunch of Marblers to change. 'H no we won't go!' π₯΄

Whops! I totally forgot. I'm digging around for some marbles I did get from Ray 2009. About 20 or so, of some especially hard to get MK's, they can't be lost, just hiding. Turning up every corner, nick and cranny including all the hybrid and odd stuff Jillian found in Paden City dumps. And what U no, I do have one of these Christmassy green and red Rainbo reds. It's pretty darned nice too. The patch is a red/brown, almost wants to be purple but not quite. Two different colors on the ribbons. One is a strong red, the other, the red-brown. As Rainbo reds go, (yeah, what you don't see in the photo is white base without more color, the south pole is always white, no patch.) With the green, the color contrast is much nicer than these. I'll try to take a photo soon.

The one that got away. Check out this sellers ended auctions: ~*~ATTIC FIND~*~. Old Toy Marble Antique or Vintage #33. **BROKEN** | eBay Reviewed seller's recent sales and this one is crazy. It's plenty used, they only have old marbles 'Attic find', I am not so hot identifying in the Jabo/Dave's, etc. marbles category yet, who else could? It's beat, sling shot ammo and description "Broken" is no joke it's a half piece. This one, if not new then, like the comic, even more rare, never heard of, just a dream or nightmare?

That too was my thought but not opaque. However, I picked up a little box of 12 many years ago at Amana show. So, long ago I forgot; 11 are same as yours, translucent and 1 is opaque, same as OP's. You're right, it's a Champ Metallic. Like the 1 I have, not very easy to see the metal as it is on the translucent too. Or, I mean, with only 1 opaque, can't say that for all, only that the translucent verity I have, has more swirling and more metal.

Mustered was on my mind. Crummy camera, (Photographer) Not getting color balance. Yet, I could see the yellow base in yours my photo is not showing, but yellow base is same as the ribbon and not green as it appears in my photo.

Don't open until Monday! Ray Tetrick offered this group to me; Dec 2, 2009. One and only one, red and green appears, maybe, to be a patch and ribbon. I was tempted to get them, not because of a potential watermelon prospect, but the green, red and white reminds me of Christmas circa 1964. I mean, I think I remember them brand new around that time and thought they were Christmassy then. If I recall correctly, these and quite a few others were found under a shed, as ground fill material, in Paden City at the time.

Jabo's attempt to make a corkscrew "Jorkscrew? Ha, ha! Haven't heard of that nick name before. I have some of them, but didn't see those colors.. "Jorkscrew too butt crack or rather Butt-crack came first; some of the Jabo's can't get a break. π

Exactly what I were thunking. IDK if they made em this small like this, cept I'm pretty sure Vacor made peewee sizes.
-
IDK, I guess you could call this Coke bottle transparent green and oxblood an 'Experiential'? It's a Akro dug-up and I've never seen another like or remotely close to it. Photographing it is/was a pain, because it looks like there's a black line bordering the yellow; 2nd photo but it's brown, like tan-ish and not the oxblood blending. . Yet as it blends into the yellow it's as if its black bleeding in it, there's no brown tones in the yellow rather, black-ish. Go figure?. ( Dang, I use to be pretty good making photos, sigh.) Got a twist which makes a tunnel you can see right through. 2nd photo. Maybe it wanted to be a corkscrew, but it's more of a fold with a twist. Just shy of 7/8" at 25/32"
-
I didn't see this post before, worth mentioning: The green with orange and the orange and white are 'Double tunnels'.
-
Going against the grain: That red and blue looks like Vacor to me.
-
This looks opaque red to me and got an oxblood looking thing in the colors, but no clue as to who made it. Not looking like an Akro, but maybe? .

Time flies. Finally got a photo of mine. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the yellow to show very well. The blue should be the same as yours and the base is not clear, it's the same transparent yellow that's in yours. I guess mine is a little refined as it's ribbons are not blended across like yours. It's a pretty neat looking marble which until I saw yours, haven't seen another like it. The colors are stronger in hand.

I have a bunch of these 11/16"ceramic shooters too. They are fairly easy to find in German Ebay. These and metal wrapped colored aluminum, in appearance, and unglazed seem to be within the same time frame, like, 70's or 80's. East German makes them a little interesting. The color splotches look like just plain paint, maybe gloss enamel. They're all mint so; I am too afraid to scratch any in case they are.

Took some time out to see if any searches would produce more bullet mold photographs other than the new verities... Came up with these and a few may be Hand-gathered. Just below the top marble, on the right: You can see the red line crossing the mold mark. That is what I expect to see happening if one is hand gathered. Those with red and white look like a dead match in colors for the big hand gathered bullet mold marble I have. IDK but others appear as if they could be too. Got some black guinea types just like yours too. Photo I found on the net:
-
Oh, there it is. Yes, better which also helps to visualize the light tones of blue in the other photos. . Ya got a almost turkey head in the red where it folded back too
-
IDK, my screen's Tilt to see blue doesn't function unless I stand on my head.π I don't see any blue yet sometimes when another color is below thin white, it happens. And I agree that the red is just blending into the sides of the ribbon. That wide, fat ribbon appears to border red, blend to brown then centers with white, back to brown and ends with red, does catch my attention as that's something; 'very fat ribbon on/in a swirl', you may find on a CAC.

Don't see Peltier. This looks more like a CAC.

The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...

"Worth it" what? H-G, no like mine there's no spiral. Looks like top row are German striped transparent, and a few are exceptions for the striping. Then, all those Bullet mold, Jezz, never seen so many I one place and they are all "Worth it" It's been many years since I watched for these, but last, I recall, Allen B (Marble Alen) Sold a group of Guina types IDK maybe 20 years ago, for like $100-200 each. No clue what today's or the last 8-9 years bring, but,,,,.
