    Oddball

Hum, Akro Oxblood, pastel blue and wondering if it was factory dug-up and got dropped or stuck in-between a heat source, melt and bubble it, on opposing sides. It looks like An Akro patch oxblood unless the red got burnt brown. Got a little folding on one side as it was being feed to the nozzle. House fire maybe, stuck in-between something that fried it on both sides.
  2. That's a huge-a marble but, I'd be putting that right next to my Peltier Big Boy bag. You got the right ribbons plus; Red Green and Yellow are dead-on matched colors, except your brown is a little different where mine is like it, but a bit more purplish. "Imperial?" Pushah! You was right da 1st time.
  3. Yes it's all Marble King. Berry Pink Inc. Berry Pink industries Inc is or was the corporate head or holding company. This means that; Marble King company or at least Berry's share is or was a subsidiary or possession of Berry Pink Industries. All the labels before and at least by August 1957 which is when that card was originally released; marked 'Marble King' is either Berry's trademark or trade name. It and entire 12 card package was sent to Smith's 5-10 store in NC, December 1957. Orders were shipped F.O.B. out of the St Mary's site. Not a single card has patch and ribbons yet to be sure, they had plenty Cats-eyes. At least, one can presume; Howdyshell had not made a solution for patch and ribbons before Aug 57.
  4. IDK what it is, but never seen a Jabo with translucent-transparent brown, plus a string of red in there, plus a rich opaque green blending and mixing too. With white it's four colors. BTW Neo, when you blow up a photo it just makes it blurry. Rather, take the shot with higher pixels to increase size and visibility.
  5. Ever wonder why MK large bags have swirls, instead of patch and ribbons, illustrated on them? Maybe because of the impossible to find bag with these marbles in them: Marble King Tournament assortment. Made by Berry Pink Industries Inc. in 1957.
  6. Tough all these days with all the Jabo/Dave M. and stuff they're making these days. However, I am pretty sure I've seen one like it before all those runs, like early TOC. Back then though, I would have thought to be an Akro. Akro made plenty interesting swirls but, I decided to rule out Akro then and expect these days; given all the all known dug-ups it's an Alley or Ravenswood in the WV category. Pretty cool as long as, ( not to beat up on Jabo), it's not Jabo but an oldy and a goody. Coke bottle green transparent, I do have 1 single big shooter, Akro Oxblood and yellow with coke bottle transparent but it's a dug-up and folded verses swirl. I was trying to photograph it yesterday but, still no luck getting decent photos. Never seen another Akro with coke bottle green before or after. However, as it's probably or usually a transparent color that's most likely to be from cutlet then, I think this answer my come from whoever, in WV did use Coke bottle colored cutlet to make marbles? On mine, Akro might have been slumming when made.😆 Oh yeah; here's one similar and same transparent color as well. that sold on eBay who knows when. the seller's best guess was Ravenswood, but yet wasn't totally sure: Vintage Ravenswood Swirl Marbles Oxblood 11/16" Wow! | #35365608 (worthpoint.com)
  7. So, ' these Circus' [Photo below] are not mine. Gerhard Bäz 'gb.antik' offered to sell them to me quite a few years ago. Probably in 2004-5 when I was trying to see if he had seen more Double tunnels, but he'd only had 1 which I'd already bought from him. This was his reply to my interest in the D tunnel and what he'd come across, when he thought made and where: .This is one of a few types he had. The infamous 'Circus' striped opaques:
  8. Accordingly, the Akro Sparkler, which would also mean Master's look-alike, was the first system and 'injection' technique that evolved into cat-eyes. It's not that difficult except, you'd need multiple tanks and tupes or troughs to deliver the colors. 😉
  9. He's not and actor but gets commercials B/C he's pro skateboarder. He and actual girlfriend were Cast for this Japanese band's music Video. It just aired two day ago for short time, promotional launch of their concert tour. IDK but, big famous Japanese group: Porongrafitti.? e-yuck! strange name. but they good 40 years of hits. . nd
  10. Master, Peltier and, that looks like a cork or lemon aide-egg yolk oxblood
  11. As far as I know it ain't no Jabo or Vitro for that matter, colors are too bold for anybody I know of. Except; Royal Blue, Strong red blending with what appears to be the mix found in a Chocolate oxblood. I've seen and have Akro corks with that mix but, really never seen this blue so strong.

    Akro?

Pretty in pink, but that's a swirl and not a twirl.
  13. I have had these since about 1992, were in an old dusty crock 3/4 filled with unsorted marbles since IDK 40's maybe earlier. 1 straight, 3 swirly and one swirly-ist. Four green stripes and the brown stripe. I don't see them around and never heard of some kind of name tag. .
  14. For the mixing of small and long strand: onion. .End of day? (EOD?) IDK how or when that happened but when there's one pontal or something really special that seems like it was made as a one of a kind. Hot, sweaty, over-worked, tired, exhausted, starving and low paid glass worker, with family to feed, chunked leftovers together, after work period, to sell when company wasn't looking. EOD. 😛
  15. Yeah, I think that was me, siting 4 primary colors in sparklers Red green yellow and blue. . . Funny you mentioned this B/C day before yesterday, it dawned on me I added Green into the mix. My bad. Worse is; Art has played a major role of my life, wife and children too.[grin[
  16. Many people who think they know something, like the clays are ancient Indian marbles, maybe, but them darn Indians must have had millions and millions before the Spanish came about [Grin] Not to leave out the nonsense of civil war marbles. Your first photo, people who don't have the clue that they're made in Mexico or China etc. think it Ka-Ching! I mean, some sellers are liars and con artists yet there's plenty who've got that Ka-Ching! delusion but have no clue. Your clay and ceramic are older, but billions were made. Exception: that gray and black/gray spotted might be worth something to keep and looking into. You do have some collectible marbles in there, but not worth so much that would be of value after you pay ebay 12% of the whole buyers price where eBay gets that in your shipping cost too. Even Ebay is ripping off people by making you pay them a percentage of your shipping cost. I mean, if you charge buyer exact postage it cost you? Ebay gets 12% of that, the bums. Plus shipping, handling, your time to be worth the effort to sell individual marbles and junk the rest.? Got kids?, pick the best and knuckle down (play marbles games) the rest.
  17. Crash, I had a set that were all melted pontal, from England. I reluctantly put in and auction when I down sized and emptied my 3 story Victorian home, Estate full of antiques and collectibles, thought it might bring in more people.. Anyway, it had a lesson to learn and I began seeing the patterns in a few more sets and or groups that were remnants from Solitaire boards. Unfortunately the photo is lost. There were four sets of three that fit at the ends of the board's cross. Two sets were nice white latticinios inside. Of those 2 sets 3 were 'Same cane' of one color, and a set of white Lats a different color. So, a total of 6 lats that, on the board, opposed each other. .. Another 6 of another but not lats, (I forget exactly). 3 were same cane and other same cane, same style but different outer or inside color. In total it makes 4 sets of 3 same cane on outer edges. Inside, there were sets of 2 styles, then finally singles which each were different, but, graduated from least to the greatest number of colors or increased strands leaving the center hole empty or had a ceramic red that I guess got lost. . It was more than you'd expect. The idea that when they were originally put in boxes that were carefully packaged in groups and sets. Since then, I could see that, it wasn't the only one like this. Only difference is, apparently folks selling them don't see the pattern. Not all Solitaire boards are like that, but look for 4 sets of 3, sets of 2 and a set of mixed with graduating colors, low too highest .., There's others. Your photo reminded me as you have a set of 3 pink and while panels, maybe others, like white and blue panel. And, one other that's looking best of all, potentially fits as top of the whole or part of graduating group.
  18. Double tunnel vs Road and tunnel vs Germany vs Christensen Agate or 'What's going on where?" It's getting late for Thüringen's play but somebody's popcorn is getting stale. and I been busy. . . Beter late than never, is where these marbles lay too. You know, Road and tunnel as described by Chris Robertson in his hand-made verities. That they were a gathered technique long lost. However, they are in many Christensen Agate's marbles which for all we know, have no reasoning to have been H-G. Yet, guess what? Of the 80 dug-up Akro H-g's, I found 2, Road and tunnel slags that are evident 'as made' the same as all other H-G marbles. Go figure? Watz-sup-wit-dat? Now how in the heck were these (Photos below) Double Tunnels made? The first I'd discovered of this was some time ago, when E-bay had recently opened up their German auctions. It became my secret spot because, in order to play, you had to read and respond in German. That wasn't easy but hardly anybody knew to look there and, I knew where and how to use translators to help. Plus teach German sellers how to use their ridicules postal system that it does not cost and arm and a leg to ship overseas.. So, the first one I found, I was like, what? and scooped it up, though I did not have a clue what it was, nor any tunnels. It just had so much going on with all the blending. When I got it and saw the road and tunnel effect it was hard to imagine but colors were surly not Christensen Agate or anything I'd seen before. And in hand, it is not as bright as my photo. Under lights, action, Camera, bang! I called it; The Woody. Yet, as I studied it, then, I began to see them in German auctions and most anywhere else yet, that's the thing, actually, never saw them elsewhere before. Not in Shows, marbles video auctions, Ebay US or other, like France, England and Australia. I learned the names different countries called marbles and searched high and low. Even today, although I have not searched in many years now, I do not have any evidence they were made in Thüringen or Germany. Clues: Found in Germany and the very best seem to be oldest where in one group, I got German clear stripped transparent, or we call German slags, with some a little different from the norm. Different clear color and the stripes are different in a few too. Not much evidence especially I do not know of anything where Germany takes claim with exception of the striped transparent. The more I hunted and acquired, what seems to be newer is, they 'feel' like maybe as early as 40's and as late as the 1960's. The older appear to be the best. Yet, How could this be, Hand Gathered? Coincidence and just a tad off how CAC did it? They're certainly; whoever made these, used older equipment or process similar to what Christensen Agate did, but I got no clue. . East or West German, USSR, Czech, Poland, France, maybe even for some of the newer colors Dutch or like the Dutch guy did, a single start up? OK, for the show; I know I run on a lot, ha! Startin on my first, then a group, included a single seam loop, except for color, only Christensen Agate made. Where you easily see the loop (Tunnel) in The Woody, at the seam line, low right, there appears to be a road but, most all do this and it's actually another loop, top left. "Double tunnel" Again, in this orange and white, looks like a Road and tunnel but nope; what appears on the bottom as a road, it loops as all of these do once you know what's happening. And the cut off, shear marks, cut lines, looks like CAC too. No Doubles here as single fold and the only one like it. All of the above and this blue and white below seem to be the oldest and mint; as made, where surfaces are not perfectly smooth, that's also like larger CAC marbles may do too. Go Figure?. And a group where the blue and white above shows the reverse, that goes wild enough, you have to know where the backside tunnel is, least you'd think' Road and Tunnel; no doubt. I have only found Double tunnels in 7/8" size. The smaller marbles in this photo are regular German Striped transparent No ' double tunnels' but, different from the norm and a few, potentially older. .
  19. X2, not even close to one. Ebay has a bunch of hyper sellers who'll say anything to get your bucks.
  20. See Sunday's best, Aug 14, page 18: blue and white. For all I know, mostly found in Germany 7/8" and they all have, whether you can see it or not 2-3 colors while one can be clear-colorless. Example: reverenced; Blue and white has clear, separated within in it. They look like a big road and tunnel Christensen Agate except, the opposite has a tunnel that may look like a road but it's a loop too. I found some of my photos with more examples, but that'll be a different topic.
  21. Actually, in your photo (attached below) as it comes up to a pinch, (cloudy-white and rippling surface) I could almost see it as a Navarre, Barbiton Leighton thingy. These look like the punty rod used was tiny at only 1/16" or so, for the marks and pull to a pinch and a pontal remains. U no, N.B.L Marbles, being shaped in a forming cup as fast as their hands can move, with a punty rod, there's no shaping without a rod so, it's always going to be a rough spot from the punty. Can not shape the entire surface smooth wit rod in it. Constantly rotating axis, or rotate to make rod spot slick, can't happen, which is why extra work, torch it, 'Melted pontal' U no got. From the overall appearance of the surface and stuff, in or on it, it leads me to the Akro H-G dug-ups that also have white like this and plenty of those the surface is not smooth. As for the first one, no seeing shaped in a forming cup at all. When it is vertical like Tommy's, it's looping. Most all H-G slags are horizontal in which, unless it's an exceptional spin, so many times, extraordinary: around and around and around with tight horizontal lines Machine rollers or hand shaped, U no, then otherwise, it's like most...
  22. And I just happen to have photos of the Clarksburg box, of which, my little buddy sent me several years ago. it has the entire set of MFC solid opaques: Jade Green, Golden yellow, Purple and Persian Blue (turquois). Albeit, scanner's light didn't like the marbles, especially that, it appears there's a colorless Cleary in top row. Regardless, .
  23. It does not work well enough for me. I'm on a bit slow wifi with 3 devices bottle necking sometimes. Your video runs but, I think the server here isn't set up to run big pixel heavy video like yours. I mean, Utube plays better than yours, which seems is imbedded into and hosting within this server. Utube has huge server distribution. BTW, That's what I've been working on, with a little motor driven turn table, but wondering it it'll play without using a utube account to host the video.
  24. Yellow, green, red and white with a bonus pink. Pink is such a hard color, that isn't a blend of red and white, to get. This color line up and internal wispy blends inside, found in Akro Sparklers and Master marbles. I mean both can line up near the same colors, Yellow most usual in Akro but Master has that too. You're missing blue as both can have all four primary; red, yellow, blue, green and white, plus clear and as, they always blend into a 7th shade, you are 7+ which makes:. Lucky 7. But which is this? And man, your gramps didn't mess around with his 'Evil 'intimidator marble, snatching minty stuff. You've got, in that massive horde of his, just what marble collectors dream of. Albeit I doubt many even dreamed that big, hiding away since the 30's. I like the sheer marks (cut lines) to be saying Akro but the tints in the colors and the big white smear that appears to be out of the red, turning it pink, that's what I'd expect in a Master Made. Yet it would be possible, because; out of the gate, breaking ties with Akro, Master used those 6 and got that lucky 7th as well. I just happen to have one, Lucky 7 (all primary colors, and white in clear, blending of the shades) with shear marks of master, and it takes a bow with heavy Master's green aventurine covering half of it. It Sparkles! However, it also lends to yours being Akro. Sparklers have fairly standard, for Akro, clear. My Master uses a tint of clear that's not quite a coke bottle green as it's lighter than, but close. That suggests; Master was using culet while Akro was likely mixing their own from scratch. [edit] I forgot to mention more on that pink. It might be blended as these were being made but maybe not. Either way, it just adds in the Keeper clause for being that much different than others, near the same without it, made back then.
