  1. Clear based with all that coverage and a few of strands submarining at the edge: In my experience, which is aged these days for not keeping up: Clear is worth more than blue and those strands are a plus. Some Blues can have that too, but you can't see em so easily, add strands as a bonus. If I were picking between blue or clear, yours would win.
  2. Yeah, that was quite a chore to find the green marbles in the bag. Apparently, you posted a photo 10 years ago of 1998's here: 1998 one inch run - Jabo Collectors of America (tapatalk.com) I would just about sworn I picked up that bag in 93-94 for a couple bucks so, it wasn't easy to just give up trying to fit that in. I had to practically go all across the net to find your photo, shesh. πŸ˜… As for the other bag, IDK yet I seriously doubt the labels were meant to hold only 4 average sized marbles. I mean, the labels are real and so are or were the hustlers who stuffed em. . I do have a couple of old bags with older, 60's or so, without big ones and they both have labels you'd instantly think are the same as the stuffed ones. . One of these days I'll get my camera to focus in right and display em.
  3. Thanks Ron. I don't know these days as so much more of WV marbles have been hunted, discovered, dug and researched. , Yet, you're finding a lack of Bolders or over 3/4", doesn't that seem odd or peculiar? Whelp I do and forgot that I have a 60's, or so, bag with 4 boulders in it. In the bag, my caliper shows the largest= 1 inch. The size varies slightly, but not by much. If I presume exact sizing, minus the vinyl, it appears they're just about the same size as Jabo made. [ I revested an attempt to photograph the big red and yellow in 2 photos below the Champ sidetrack I quired.] These 4 big Champs are two colored swirls. One is green and green, another green and white and two that are green and grayish- blueish. Comparatively they look very much like Jabo's 90's Bolders construction. The gray/green are kind of neat but overall, there's nothing to jump out whereas 90's Jabos, for the most part, are more attractive. So difficult for me to get a decent shot these days. Can't get color in this so, you're going to need to take my word about the colors: Since color is so poor in my photo, I thought I could find a better with same colors on the net. Surprisingly there is another but not the same construction rather, this bag lacks the 4 on label and are of the types that Castle and Peterson describes in their 1996 2nd edition: 'Marbles'. These are the patch verity and combined with my bag of swirls completes their written descriptions. I've never paid much attention to either type. I mean, neither are much to get excited about and as they note: 'They are very difficult to tell between other companies with exception; if in original bags'. To that affect, in this other bag, the patch or ribbon examples are just about like Master Glass. For having my bag, I can tell that they are also boulders, the same size. It was an eBay sale some time ago but remains on Esty: Here's the link: 1950 Champion Agate Shooters in Unopened Mint Original Bag - Etsy So, anyways Jabo red and yellow, also so difficult for me to photo, this is close, yet I can't capture the yellow well enough. It's like a bright canary yellow with a flat or statin finish however, under 5x the surface is perfectly smooth gloss. In the first photo, less blur than 2nd, the reflective surface appears as if the chemical used for the yellow is floating on the surface. I mean, you can see the texture in 1st photo but, in hand with 5X, it's mint smooth like any other marble. Does anybody know what year Jabo made these? .
  4. Nothing over the 3/4" area, never knew that. I'd photographed my marble years ago and labeled it as a Champion, but it's file is long gone now. I tried to get a good photo in last few days, but all I get is junk blurry shots. Interestingly, McCullough's 80's yellow is distinctive enough to spot in Jabo's 1990's. It often has a flat sheen verses glossy. I guess you could say, as I have never seen it on any other marble or glass, it's unique to Dave's personal color palette. Albeit, as far as 1" area in Champs; Ya'll are referring to the 80's Champs and newer or Champ never made big ones, ever?
  5. Looks like a chap here. I do have a big red and bright yellow Champ, It does not look like this though. Mine is a dark transparent red with bright wispy yellow strands in it. The yellow in Op's marble doesn't look as bright or what I'd expect. Otherwise, I have 10 Champs like this @5/8". One of these days I'll get a set of lights so I can shoot decent photographs. Not all of the champs are or were "Furnace " actually very few are made from scrapings. I.E. just because there's bright yellows by champ, does not mean it's from furnace scrapings. Regardless, the yellow in the Op's photo is odd for Vacor, not bright enough and Champ's is brighter too. Either color is not photographed properly or? The champs I have which are similar to this, the red is stable, even and not blending or mixed with clear as the Op's red appears to be. I also have 1 Atmosphere. Only 1 as it's not my thing as well but, Hand-gathered Lilac and yellow giant cyclone core, near the same colors as CAC was a no brainer for 10 bucks. As far as I understand, albeit only little knowledge in the Atmosphere's, they're hand-gathered and the Op's shows no signs of it.
  6. The topic marble looks like a Champion to me. I've got some bags around here, somewhere, 50-60s and some 80-90's. That looks like an 80's Champ. And Roberto, yeah, that blue on yours does look like veiligglas. I mean, haven't seen one with just blue and white like yours but, it appears to be the same blue I have with yellow, blue and white. It's a pretty distinctive dark blue. Grazing over my Various Veggi's I think that blue is also in their wire pulls.
  7. It's a hand-gathered amber slag; there's hardly anything to remark except for the 9. I would stick it in Akro just because it's seedy. Otherwise, it's your marble, MFC, CAC, Peltier or Akro pick your flavor.
  8. Thanks. Indeed, Ian sure ripped a hole through all the beach areas.
  9. Whelp, that was fun, not. Broken branches, shredded leaves and pool full of stuff. There's no Fall like season down here but the trees are lacking 60-70% of their leaves now. I think we only got up to 130 MPH winds. The eye of the storm went just beside and above to where it missed us by, IDK about 10-15 miles. Really lucky that we got power back on in only 52 hours. Trying to catch up with the mess is hardest part. 1980, wood frame and vinyl siding, it's the 4th time in 42 years a hurricane has hit it. The big bad wolf huffed, and he puffed, but couldn't blow this old house away.
  10. Un real, we still have power! 2 weeks ago our 60+ foot palm tree got hit by lighting and blew the top off., the pool is getting ready to overfill and getting trashed by Debree. Oh yeah forgot, Irma decided we didn't need our pool cage, unless we can toss $35k at it. Errr. In front the bamboo is getting it, even broke some tops and below it, the water is up to the street. Here's what's happening now: Photos below the time we're having: the Fun, fun, fun! The party is just getting started B/C it's going to get worse during the next 6 hours. Weee! πŸ˜…
  11. Spit! We're reluctantly, riding this one out. It's after 11 Am it was due 3 hours ago but, and luckily still have power, but probably not much longer, with eye ring of 155 MPH splitting hairs at about 30 miles west of us, as it moves northeast. That keeps us away from the eye but not far enough where my area should be lights out within the hour. It should mean I won't be around for a few days yet never expected i'd see power now. . So in the mean-time, , I'm thinking, maybe that's what or how the doors actually got their inspiration for this: πŸ€ͺ
  12. I don't see Multi color as in MCS (Multicolor swirl) And in those you have three opaque colors like Blue, yellow and white and others similar . In these photos; I can't make out if it's white or light green swirling in there. I mean, in some it looks white in others green but can't tell if it's the green transparent mixing in to white or white is just a tad below green as example; you can see a lot of red slags the white looks red or red-orange. . Nor for me, the clincher; two strands equals Peltier or a single strand meandering in there not Peltier. It's been many years since I first saw Smitty's, I forget, a silver surfer or Blue Lagoon, ya'll named em these days. or of that type with aventurine, he'd brought to Amana. The aventurine appeared as what I expect to be Peltier's but two ribbons? I'd looked and looked with my big eye magnify glass and couldn't see it and so doubted Peltier. He was getting frustrated, insisting there were two ribbons. That was like, before people began finding these types. I kept looking and looking, more and more as it was pretty complicated to follow the ribbon, until Yeah Bag! sure enough; there were two in there. I think Smitty was looking for further verification at that time as, as far as I know, in the net at least, I'd stumbled on The first Green lantern [ I did not tag the name, somebody else did, IDK 6 months- a year later.] anybody had heard of. I called Danny Turner to ask if he knew, and a few others but nope. That was strange because, ya know, those have Peltier written all over em. Somebody asked me to apprise their Super men and Guineas 100's of what turned out to be Vacors. Ha, ha. But one little bag of old marbles with a few corks and stuff; had a beat up green and black aventurine Peltier. "What?" My fees were, at the time: 1 pick of the marbles but never the best. That was the only marble worth bothering with so, I left it. Anyways, Color, color, color! I have seen so many Vacor's that have been sold on e-bay that looked very close to the real thing, I can spot em in a sec. Vacor,s yellow is usually the difference, it's a bit too bright and kind-a sort-a bleeds, and their red falls short if yellow comes close. Worse;, how many Black, yellow and red Vacor's look like CACS, Geez, if that brighter yellow does not tell you, sooner or later you'll discover, if ever come close enough to see the real deal, the red is off too. . Where I'm going here: 1. Color and 2 it either has duel white ribbons that nobody has noticed before or, it could very well be a pretty nice Sea Turtle and @akroorka which I also think, for his post; nailed that opaque green, in a hot second.
  13. My brain eye function gets tricky since a brain/bleed stroke 3 year ago so, I have to really concentrate to get it in photos. Lines with intersections are hard now. Anyway, the topic does look a lot CAC diaper fold, but would need it in hand to confer. And in CAC stripers, they are not all white on a transparent or clear albeit you'd see more of them vs rarer CAC colors. There's red on clear, Electric or is usually orange on clear, yellow, green and others. If it goes 'submarine' it's because many do but not all They're just so rare you hardly ever see them. On the other end, it's hard to find a white that submarines on transparent too. I have a few Electric oranges and a red too, but no photos to show today. Yet, I recovered the old photo of my Electric green recently: BTW, Nice CAC striper there, Chad, some tunnel action too and that is not a euro two seam striper. It looks almost peach, but they are very had to shoot and get color dead on. I Have a big peach, and while hard to shoot, The CAC peach, is hard to describe but when you see it in person, it's just so peachy and unique, you'd never wonder if it's orangie/amber-y or what.
  14. In the CAC Bloody; it's the bloody color that's so obvious, which Akro can have too, in corks, but also the thick ribbons or glass steam that makes the difference. Alan's illustrates it well.
  15. That's some nice clarity in those shots.
  16. Whelp, that's too bad as I'd hoped; whenever she first showed up, it would happen. Regardless, on the bright side, unless you're a Green Bay Packers fan, you should be able to retain: 'It's a Double Tunnel' now. πŸ˜€
  17. Whelp, I'm running out of old photos that I've managed to hunt down in emails, thanks to yahoo mail who haven't dumped that stuff yet. However, I spect they will soon enough like everything else they've trashed. Anyway, Swirls day: While not a big Jabo/Dave and whatever team he's got now, collector. Not that I don't like what they have been doing since 2005 or so, It's just not my thing. I think it was Smitty who was dumping his best picks. I really don't know but, March Madness maybe.. It's his photo. I couldn't turn down these, best pick Flamers:
  18. I as in Irma and now IAN;gonna be quite busy the next couple of daz getting prepared or weeks if it gets close enough. Irma took power out for near two weeks but I do have Gas generator so, it ain't gonna squat me completely yet no A/C is seriously bad for me and especially wife with her Cronic COPD. . Waz-sup wit the 'I's chasing my butt? 😁
  19. Not that I know much about Vacors as I only have a few samples from long ago but, Vacor/Mega Blue Macaw is easy enough to find in Google search: Transparent blue with patches ( photo and link Attached) And, yeah that does look like an older Vitro, but never seen any in those colors as well. Albeit, while I have quite a few Vitros, [Hundreds of different examples sorted in different types of about 10 each verity of types. Basically, excepting a couple of mesh bags most others came in lots that I consider free } So, I am not much of an avid collector of them either, but got the same Vitro vibe too. . 20. That orange, gives it away, if you own one, add the tunnel and size: it's a German double tunnel. Yet you can't see the tunnel on the reverse side. If you hadn't known it yet; look a little closer Steph, should see another tunnel on the darker side with a loop facing the orange side. And, while I don't mean to change or interrupt the topic,; I have been wondering for quite some time; if Winnie had matched them in or from veggyglass too? Because, in this photo ( Taken over ten years ago so, forget exactly how many doubles) below there are 4 or 5 Double Tunnels, the rest are Veggy's and it all came as a group from Germany. And while GB antik says; the striped are pre 1939, I say: Colors, including your orange: 'Feel like', ( in my photo; the red, white and blue, light green and white, orange and violet and the blue and white) 40-60's and that time frame would fit with Veggy.
  21. Incidentally, I had a looky at those I have, and one has got same Pastel green and Maroon, with less squiggle but a match squiggle and all. . And it took me a while to find the same colors in a corkscrew and it's 7/8" which there's no doubting it is Pastel green and maroon plus a big cork. Yet still for the topic, that's a patch where bonus points are due because extra squiggle. Also Ann, I was mistaken as to the base being Maroon, no doubt base is Pastel green. "Pastel green" peeps should take note,: for the advertisement I added, we have names to fit Akro's pastel colors. If I recall correctly, the only reason I have that big cork is because I deemed the Green uncommon and not, as I did not know about the ad when I picked it, not which Akro colors it is. . So, for the Royals I have, bingo on my cork. The ad cites: "Pastel Green with maroon, Creem with deep blue Etc." it's of the few times we have named Akro colors where matching the Royal patches can help cite individual color of some corks. I expect the Cream and deep blue, where maroon is transparent, the deep blue is also transparent. Especially you can also see, in the box I posted too, Pastel yellow, green and blue. You can see, what I expect is also Pastel blue, in sparklers. πŸ˜‰
  22. Not necessarily all Alley's in your photo Nantucket. I see one slag in purple, and maybe a green or two. Plus, I have a bag of Alox that are transparent swirls in the same color slags were made. So, it ain't so easy to name who did what or match colors.
  23. Yeah, 1928 and possibly a year or two earlier, they would be Akro's greatest accomplishment, as far as we know. There is advertising promoting in 28 so, I mean, I would consider there's not, simply, just one verity. It wasn't marbles but bottles and gob feeders as, it was 1918 when bottles were manufactured as a single unit and were no longer 2 pieces joined at the neck. A lot was going on in the glass manufacturing industry. Interesting: your first photo is sure looking hand-gathered? I would be, if I had one like it, scrutinizing every detail to answer that question. I mean, like, for how many years nobody expected that the H-G's would be dug in Clarksburg. All that time Roger Harty had been exploring that site and others. . I have since seen enough on-line where; they were out there before the dig. Some that were played with, we'd been looking straight at em, just never knew it. Some are so complicated, not easy to see the H-G swirl.
  24. Bingo. It seems between you and Ron, now I remember those, which, were new the time. That's what I get for shelfing my collecting fever for long time. 😴
  25. Agree on both accounts: Op's are Vacor. The pinkish is just another flavor of Vacor's Serpent where millions and millions were made with looks like Peltier's red, blue and yellow: superman foolery is still going on. It's not white based which Vitro Jackets are ,it's Vacor's blue and has been a trickster for, what?, 20 years now and a bit of white is blending in with it. I get the reasoning for thinking it's a Jacket in only 1 of these photos as it appears to have two patches. That one photo makes it look so, but the rest of Op's photos of it, give it away. . The Seahorse, I would not have known and caused me to wonder, B/C I stopped looking at Vacor's years ago but @Mojo call and evidence on both being Vacor, answers that too.
