  1. First I would talk to a few folks that had marbles in the last sale and see if they are happy.
  2. CAC used about 5 different types of glass that appear black. One of them is black.

  5. couple year old version of these http://www.landofmarbles.com/pc/hom002/loose-playing-marbles.html A few similar here
  6. The aventurine forms on its own. It can crystal out in a light or heavy manner. The ones that look similar to the pelt are neat for sure but still a bit less dense and not as fine IMO.
  7. Any one have any unusual types. They can get real fancy but I have none of those.
  8. Common = clear less= cobalt least common = amber I have yet to see any other transparent base color that I was positive was a real CAC Guinea. There may be a few but they would be over the top rare. I will post some pics when I get home from the office.. Never seen a Shamrock marble that came close to looking like a guenuine CAC Guinea. There are some amazingly close Wilgonoski Guineas but his have give aways also. Cobalt with average sized spots Wilgonoski Fake. Notice dark areas in spots 3 more Fakes Neat pattern with stretched on one side spots on other might command a small premium Classic remelt
  9. Commonality is Amber, Cobalt(blue), then clear. The larger the spots or crazier the pattern, the more they can be worth. Also very visible internal striping can increase value. Some call them Guinea cobras but I dislike the term. Guineas always seem to draw close to value on Ebay if the pics and description are right on. And remember if there is not a seam or 2 it is a FAKE
  10. I must say the first shot does show much more detail.
  11. A few pelt Miller machines are scattered around the country and I believe there are a couple non Miller still at the site. But they are rounding machines. It is the gob feeder that give the patterns to marbles and they are not really something that would be moved from one site to another. lots of bricks mainly. I just got a call recently about them.
  12. The only Scott that made this, was Scott Johson a CAC employee
  13. I have many of Scotts marbles, and that is not one of them Ronnie.
  14. Vacor marbles actually do not look like vintage types any where near as much as some of the new Ohio types. And there would be absolutely no way to convince anyone there that it would benefit the Vintage marble collecting community if they did not make mimics. I guess I just need to except the fact that these current makers in Ohio just do not care if, and when they turn out marbles that resemble vintage types. And no matter what anyone says, when I show some new marbles to a room full of vintage collectors and they all believe them to be vintage, IT IS HAPPENING. and it is not necessary. So saying it is not happening is just not factual. But I guess saying they could care less is factual. That bothers me the most, as these folks are closely associated to the hobby and do not care if they cause issues for collectors. And Ann, flames are fantastic no matter who makes them. I even have some Jabos that Flame nicely. But they do not look Vintage.
  15. O/T Ric, There is a a so called coral type that has identical base and close? coloring.
  16. Mike, that was a very nice post! It is great when folks can disagree without getting personal. I believe you meant what you said. Apology more than excepted! Dani, Maybe this will be better than more of the same marble
  17. I keep the camera about 10 inches from the object (so the flash hits all the object) zoom in a bit and use manual focus. Here is what a whole pic looks like before crop. I resized to fit the page
  18. You were doing real good up till your last sentence. Too bad you have to get insulting. It is a shame you couldn't just give your opinion with out getting personal. Seems to be a bad habit with the folks that disagree with me.
  19. It is funny how my opinion on the new marbles elicit such strong opinions from some folks that think my opinion is completely wrong(thats OK) and I shouldn't even post it(That is not OK). Oh wait, almost all those folks that think I shouldn't express my opinion are involved in some way with the manufacture or distribution of those marbles. Or very close friends with those making them. Nuff said. I think this is old
