  1. Do you have any of the information you used for your post JVV. Many collectors are very interested in marble history. Word of mouth is just way too unreliable.
  2. WOW! One of the better large ones I have seen!
  3. Yes Bocci, It was Mike Johnson. Give him a call and ask him what he really thought and said about the marbles I showed him. I do not need to B.S. Bocci.
  4. Once again I see marbles that will be confused as vintage by many future collectors. I recently showed some vintage look alike Sammy marbles I purchased at Canton to a top Marble book author. He believed them to be vintage. So please don't bother with the "need to be educated" BS it just doesn't work any more. This man has held and has more vintage machine mades than most anyone in the hobby. Among other things, he said it was disturbing. As I have stated time and again there is no need to use colors that can be confused with vintage marbles. It saddens me to see folks so involved with trying to make money caring so little for the future collectors.
  5. Yes, there are many true die hard vintage marble collectors left that despise buffed polished torched marbles. (Thank goodness)
  6. Not a Pelt, that is obvious.
  7. same style as the peewees in the mosaic box. and they look to me like the ones in the barrels with the pic of the lady bagging marbles
  8. I believe Fiedler had left Akro before they began making corkscrews. But you are correct in it is possible his recipes were used as you can see similarities between early Akro colors, some Early Pelt colors and CAC colors.
  9. Brian Graham still makes a few now and again.
  10. With the kitchen and breakfast nook the only rooms with no marbles on display it is tough to not be looking at marbles in this home.
  11. Senses, we don't need no freaking senses. Braid, I do understand some folks as yourself finding little of value with these type confrontational posts. But the truth is they are what seem to bring the most views, the most posts and quite often the most information to the board. The look at my pretty marble posts lack the ability to keep a board running IMO. It seems when a board starts deleting and limiting what can get posted the end come soon. Look what happened to the other boards when they started the heavy policing because of complaints from a few. Strong opinions and good arguments can be done in a productive way. If folks just didn't take this stuff personal things would be great. And we could get to hear all the different opinions folks have. Most leave when they feel there opinions will be discounted or slammed by others with different opinions, Believe me I know.(LOL) And not calling a spade a spade allows others to get taken and used. Too many folks already have their heads buried in the sand!!!!
  12. Even in Tournament play today shooters can be no larger than 3/4". I still have a problem calling marbles over 3/4' shooters. They are not, so why call them that? I believe it has a lot to do with a few companies putting that term on the header of boulders because it was a more common term. Boulders were (are) called a variety of names in different parts of the country. And a peewee should never be even a teeny tiny bit over 1/2"
  13. We realize they are just marbles Rich. It helps!
  14. I found one group. The others are hiding
  15. Not totally color blind. More like color confused(LOL), And sorry Rich if I came off insulting. But dull marbles are dull marbles. Every run can't be a winner in color and design.I did pick out a few that were a bit nicer than most but turned out they were mostly fractured.
  16. I am thinking if those modern ones were left rough and not ground and polished satin they would look a lot like some of the older ones. I have some tear drop beads that are near identical to some of my bullet mold types
  17. I believe they were first made in Germany and continue to be made there. Seeing as a large part of Czechoslovakia was considered Germany at different points in time I am sure they had similar production sites
  18. Sorry Steph, Gonna get personal here. OK to delete me for sure. Rich this wasn't about you or you marbles(which actually were not very good). And we do not need chemistry classes on a marble board. Now here are some bad a** marbles http://www.canalfultonglassworks.com/glass_marbles.htm. And Mike doesn't need any classes. His jabo run was fantastic and he only studied for 2.354 hours And he does fantastic torch work. He is a true arteest
  19. There is(was) a German site selling these type marbles(although modern) and I am pretty sure they are made in Germany. And I also know of these coming from digs in Germany
  20. I stand by my opinions but apologize for saying you made the first post.
