  3. The stuff was always called aventurine in machine mades until the new Jabo runs.
  4. I have examined several Rosenthal boxes and was never convinced there were Master marbles in them. They always look different than Masters in boxes from the same time period.
  5. Although I have some white based that do Fluoresce this one does not at all
  6. I will be there. I have been dreaming about a mixed Crab feast like the one at the Crab Pot that was on Man Vs Food. Marbles Glass Seafood and great marble buddies, Can't wait!!!!!
  7. Actually it appears the old marbles we call Lutz may have been sold as spangles
  8. It should maybe also be noted that if they hadn't used some stuff they called Gold lutz during the recent Jabo runs this would have simply been called aventurine. Which is actually what get your lutz right herethe gold lutz usually is.
  9. There are actually a variety of crystalline shapes of copper that may form in glass.
  10. That CLR is some good marble rust removing stuff!
  11. It is my understanding gold does not form crystals in glass. I do know gold crystals are extremely rare. Chrome and copper make most of the Aventurine glasses. I have seen some articles stating gold was added to make lutz but those articles appeared to be amateurish speculation. Maybe some of our glass makers know???? The gold lutz(Aventurine) glass rods sold are made from copper.
  12. I would agree. Or a contaminant of some type. I have heard brass filled grease(from worn bushings) can cause some strange effects. What do most consider Gold Lutz?
  13. I don't think it is CAC from those pics.. I may think different if I had it in hand. No one gets them all right. But I bet his average is a lot better than mine(LOL)
  14. look at the end of the ribbon in the polished pic. A lot of glass has been removed(ground-polished) from that marble.
  15. Are any of the marbles just white and Oxblood?
  16. Man, the closer I look the more it is now appearing as a melted pontil. It wraps like a handgather and the glass really looks like some of Leightons, here are some more pics. Brian, I will bring it to Canton in August.
  17. Thats what I was thinking but that darn soot mark sure looks like some I have seen on some melted pontils.
  18. Might need change with this shot but I tried.
  19. Come on Sue, Why try and make me break my moratorium?(LOL)
  20. Yes that is one of the 2 in the group. The other is just to the right. I should have said 2 melted pontils, One with color I have not seen before.
  21. Here is cut off on the one I was talking about. I guess I haven't had enough coffee cause I still can't figure out which marble you mean Scott. But when pulling out the corks to try and figure it out I found the best(Pattern, not condition) Pelt broken cork I have ever had. It is the one on the left. One seam is a bit off but the other seam is a near perfect match.
