  1. I forgot to add------I like all of them very much. so much so it looks like I duplicated the post(LOL) Peace,Galen
  2. Bo should be a teacher!(LOL) All his points are well made although I must say I have personally met many of the finest marble makers in the world(not torchworkers IMHO) and never have heard any of them put down a fellow glass worker(torchworkers included) in any way what so ever. And I find the detail in many furnace made mibs( like Marks or Ro's) way beyond most torch worked mibs. IMHO. Peace,Galen
  3. Or, being expensive was the Oxblood mixed, layered, applied, to the base glass in such a way that a minimum ammount was needed for maximum exposure. This is easier for me to imagine than the glass floating to the surface of a marble. The glass came in a stream and I picture the Oxblood glass layered on top of the base in the pot. Sort of (but differently)how the glass is layered to make horizontals. Just my way of thinking. Peace,Galen
  4. Although that is very nice fine dense Aventurine on that Vitro whitie and looks pearlized(common on those) it really is quite different from the Peltiers IMHO. Under magnification the difference is even more obvious. Peace,Galen
  5. Here are 3 bags thrown together. Germans, American Mades and Japanese types. Gives a fair idea of color distribution. Looks like some of those vasolines are glowing and there is no UV light. Peace,Galen

    Vitro Names?

Now thats funny Dutch. It sure wouldn't sell many copies when folks found the only names were manufacturers. (LOL) Peace,Galen still a proud member of NHA
  7. The name Cardinal Red transfered from Slags to corks of similar color. Like their use of the Onyx name. Peace,Galen
  8. I believe by the mid tolate 30s most slag production had ended, I believe by the late 30s add material is mostly corkscrews and patches with no mention of slags after about 35. there are some that have the exact information and years. Peace,Galen
  9. I really think slag production ended when corkscrew production began in ernest. Peace,Galen
  10. it wasn't used for them when the Imperial first came out. Maybe latter they were using up boxes? And notice the date. No corkscrews mention and still pics of slags, Peace,Galen
  11. Gotta love those crows. Peace,Galen
  12. Bakelite Balls(marbles) would have been too light to use for shooting marbles. I do have a ring set with interchangeable bakelite(I think) balls. I have seen many drilled beads on Bakelite jewelry. I wonder if they were not also used as game pieces. Peace,Galen
  13. Still digging in boxes. Here is the oldest so far. peace,Galen
  14. Has Vacor ever supplied Imperial? Hummmmmmmmmm!. Peace,Galen

  16. Yes, Master used the Akro Agate name for a while in some of their packaging. Peace,Galen
  17. Pics from a Marquee Auction. I sure hope you got permission. Oh Oh!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I do not know why anyone would call those bullet molds. Bullet molds are two piece that have a large hole for pouring in the lead(glass). While these Czech types may be two half molds it is obvious the glass has not been poured into the mold thriugh a large opening like on a bullet mold. Peace,Galen
  19. Great deal. Thats $50,000 worth of sparklers going by those 2 auctions. Peace,Galen
  20. I know no one seems to like to Question Alans IDs but it really only pisses him off a little.(LOL) This is one I would question. And I am sure he has a reason for calling it a NLR. The problem I have, is if I imagine the transparent as white and the ribbons being colored I see a Rainbo. Peace,Galen
  21. It is about the same on the West Coast Buddy. Peace,Galen
  22. Here is your chance to make that investment. 600 for the pair. What a deal!!!!!! Peace,Galen
  23. Never heard of them. Peace,Galen
  24. Have these folks ever been to a show??? Insanity at its best. I love it. Just a few colors on the Sparkler also. Yea for Alan!!!!!! thats gotta help for some of the underbid ones he gets. Oh yea, I have some outstanding ones I will sell for only 300 each. Any takers? Peace,Galen
  25. Always called those Czech marbles(even though many were made in Germany). Bulletmolds to an oldtimer like myself are usually clear very rough with a ridge around the circumference and a ground flat spot where the pour mark was ground off. They are found in the Codd bottles and used in the claw feet. mid toLate 1800s into the 30s may be a good guess. They usually sell for very little in under 1 inch sizes. Peace,Galen
