  1. May we see the 2 sides of the marble between the seams.
  2. One must remember there were many glass making companies in the USA at one time. Marble companies being a very very small percentage.
  3. If you do not get too caught up in one room do as much wandering as you can I think you will always find some marbles a lot cheaper at a show that any where else. I know I sold a bunch for a lot less than I could have got for them if listed on Ebay. And in turn I bought a bunch for a lot less than I would have had to have paid on Ebay. And even though the Holiday in messed with Brian and the Saturday show pretty much tanked It was still a fantastic show with all the room trading. CAC Bait. paid less than 100 for the pair
  4. I do not believe the base glass glows on Angels. I sold a set to Clyde. May he Rest in Peace.
  5. I think its a rainbo and has nothing at all to do with the NLR Liberties. Those were made with a totally different set up at the feeder. and much earlier IMO Looks to me like some glass got hung up and got loose to cover one side of that marble.
  6. Neat rainbo, open the bag. They are common enough, but the marble looks less common
  7. The base color can vary from very Opaque to somewhat transluscent
  8. Just a bit jealous, Maybe I can go diving in the pool in Canton Thursday(LOL)
  9. I think it is the characteristics of (refraction defraction nofraction really don't know exactly what make it glow orangish) opalescent glass that makes the glow. Like moonies. And the addition of white simply limits the amount of light passing through allowing for less glow, Is that what you are saying??
  10. I am not sure what you mean by too much white, In the pearless I consider the base glass totally different than that of a white glass of any type. No glow not a Realer IMO.. They made lots of patches that were not Realers. As for the Aces I always wondered if just part of the base glass could opalescence or not???
  11. IMO Glass frogs are perfectly safe for display purposes. And metal Calipers are also pretty darn safe for measuring marbles. Glass is a very very hard material. Many Marble makers supply glass stand for displaying their marbles.
  12. The call them that but they really are not since they were rounded by hand. The ground pontils are not actually Transitionals either as they are a hand made marble. Long ago any marble that showed signs of hand gathering got called a Transitional. It is going to be real hard to get it to end. Transitionals should be hand gathered machine rounded marbles IMO
  13. You are right on the Guineas and and 2 new marbles in the middle pic.
  14. I am going to bet you are seeing reflections from tiny fractures on at least some of those.
  15. still haven't found out who made the last group.
  16. I am voting Tweener leaning towards Rainbo because of glass quality. I do agree with Mike, Two completely different marble types
