Clear Oxblood...is This Really Rare?
wvrons replied to BuckEye 's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I would be suspicious. I don't recall a Akro to match it,but that doesn't mean much. Is that a actual seam or more like a roll mark. Which is not unusal, especially with the tank wash marbles. Many of the tank wash marbles had the bubbles. The brown is much more common with Jabo than Akro. I don't see any black, wide spots or holes in the ox like a lot of Akro ox. Each month if not each week, some one tells me of finding a good size old collection, never been touched for years and years, but it has Jabo or Vacor. And sometimes everything else or most else is old vintage. I had a call last night of a old collection of over a gallon from a 85 year old man who worked at a marble plant years ago. It was all Jabo classics 2003 and maybe older. The person bought it as being all old vintage and was going to make some money. It seems like everyone is buying and selling marbles nowdays, but many are also getting disappointed later. Maybe someone can post a picture of a confirmed or known Akro like this,or maybe a Jabo? -
I told Joe you did not need two of the same run. I brought home the other one that Bill B. had. Plus a couple others. Missed you! A physicochemical organization of molecular living matter told me you were getting better. Thats OK Griff dropped the marbles this trip. Have you ever seen 1000 marbles hit the floor from 4 ft above, all at once. It is also a loud noise, especially against a steel door, heard all the way down the hallway. Take care, talk to you soon.

Someone should have got a picture. I have seen a few double sprinklers before,LOL. This run out of 14 different ones, was my best seller at the recent KC show. Only one or two people even checked the names of the different runs. They picked the marbles by what they saw and liked. My next best sellers with the Indy show and since have been Odyssey,Odyssey Plus and the Ladies First.

Cameras are even better than a alarm.

You may have to use another auction service which has a total different page set up. I know many have pictures in the lower section, but most or all are using an auction listing service.

I just received one of those phone calls, that you don't want to hear. A close long time friend of Everett Grist just called and informed me that Everett just passed away. Everett,s daughter and his friend said they knew that he relied on me a lot with marbles. They ask me to let everyone know. One thing for sure, from the first time i ever meet Everett. He was always straight up,no doubts of what he wanted, how he wanted it,his way,his terms. But,i also found out that he would bend within reason. He had a big heart and good intentions. One of his big goals was to introduce young people or older people,to marble collecting. He understood that not everyone can pay $50.00-$100.00+ for a marble. He told me and others "I may not be a marble expert, especially around machine mades. But,i know how to write books that will help bring young and new people into this hobby. Will you help me ?" Every time we did talk on the phone,he always ask about my grandson Morgan. He had meet Morgan years ago and listened to him talk about digging marbles in the creek by my house. It was a delight to really get to know the true Everett Grist. Goodbye friend ! Rest in peace.

Decatur Marble Show?
wvrons replied to FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Griff are you packed and ready? Did you sneak back to WV this week, without me knowing? I will have the truck loaded when you get here. I will try to save you some room. I hope Chuck has us a couple tables? Fishing will have to wait until you get back here. River is high,at the top of the banks anyway. That orange powder was good in my chili. Thanks for the instructions by the expert and my first sushi !
