Speaking Of Pontils-

I've had a few of these for awhile but don't know anything about them - which makes it difficult to describe them for selling. This one is 1" and white with shades of purple. There's only one pontil mark and a definite 9. I would probably consign something like this in order to get good pics of the pontils. Can I call it a transitional or leave that to the experts?

Not a real good pic of the pontil, but it looks a melted pontil to me. Not a transitional but a hand gathered handmade marble, most likely from the Navarre, Ohio plant. Hope this helps.

The pics aren't bad in terms of focus and resolution, a couple other angles might help though. Nice marble.

I resized my pictures but still can't get more than two on. I can't rely on pics for ID as they just aren't good enough. Thanks for the info - maybe I'll just put them on the Bay and say Possibly Navarre ???!!! LOL

Looks like a normal Ohio made melted pontil marble to me.

Don't think Navarre, transitional would be a safe bet

Sure looks like one of Harveys melted pontil Ohio marbles from here.

I believe it's a Leighton type.

Pretty high starting bid considering the damage.

That type of "damage" is not that uncommon for this size and type of marble. I believe your starting bid is fair but I am trying to avoid the greed-bay scam as much as I can. If it does not sell for you over there, please list it here in the buy and sell forum.

I've never had this type of marble before. The white dots that are visible on the marble I have listed are not able to be felt on the surface - there is no glass missing - only a difference in coloration. I listed it to learn what people thought of it and what the value is - if any.

Yes. That's usually all it takes. Sometimes odd characters in the address can make the link go wonky. But usually all you need to do is paste the address in the post. Then it automatically becomes a link.
