mjk
FYI, I just did another database update to the MibCollectors database of to add about $550,000 worth of marbles sold at Auction... So, the whole thing includes about $1.85 million dollars worth of marbles transactions now... I also removed the registration requirement, so it's easier to use (for those who hate to create new web site accounts). http://www.mibcollectors.com/auction_data.php It's a 100% free research tool...hope others find it useful. mjk
@wadely1212 -- This one? Ouch... http://www.mibcollectors.com/view_lot.php?marble_lot_id=11036
jeroen
Are the colors of this type of marble not directly on the surface? Would the colors not disappear during polishing?
ann
I'm not sure I'd call it an Indian. But that's just me. I'm also suspicious of the surface as shown in the pics. Looks like it might have already been buffed? But why on earth would you polish a &13,000 marble???
wadely1212
it a dark red red base class with colors on the surface just as an indain would be... and not it wasn't polished before.. i did have this in hand before it went to morphy's and it WAS a nice piece
ann
To me it looks like the lovely product of an Indian that slipped off to meet a lady onionskin for a nooner . . . Anyway, it should never have been polished. How could . . . never mind . . .
Steph
Darn ... I didn't visit there often enough ... I guess others didn't either. I was in the mood for a random marble, so I thought I'd check it out and it's gone again. Well ... it's showing up as blank for me. Is it showing up as blank for you? Steph
I wrote MJK. The site is gone. Chinese hackers messed things up and it was too much to keep going.
Geordies Liggies
Sorry to hear that Steph. I was looking forward to checking it out.
Steph
Yeah, Steve ... you would have loved browsing that. Have you checked out the Morphy auction pages? You can a good browsing fix there. And do you have Baumann's book, Collecting Antique Marbles? That's recommended for the handmade Germans.

Geordies Liggies
Hi Steph and Ann, I was recently pointed in the direction of the Morphy Auction listings by member MattShaw1953 (who also suggested the Marble Connection site). As for Baumann's book, no, I have not come across that one before. I'll do a bit of searching online and see if I can pick up a copy. Sound like a resource I need. Many thanks for the tips, I really appreciate receiving them.
