Size always matters--nice, well cropped images matter too. Repost this one with your very best images and be rewarded. Show all four sides of this cute little orb. (four sides of an orb--you get what I mean--cutlines on both sides and opposite to them on both sides.) The thing is--These CAC "Guinea" marbles have been faked by so many independant marble makers that some folks will get gun-shy as far as giving any positive ID. I am quite certain--80% is the best that I can do without any further images. This one is worth it's own post in the ID section if you are up for it. Nice marble--Marble--On!!

The damage and as-made defects ID this one as a CAC for me. Never hide the defects and swallow your pride. The marble will speak for itself. Mint marbles are not a reality—except for once in awhile—a great while. A single seam, (all marbles have two seams or cut marks but some only show one) which is quite nice to find imho in any condition. The blow holes, the big long cut mark and the limited damage all line up with an original CAC imho. For some reason I do not remember “Diaper Fold” regarding this type of CAC. Help me out here fellow “MarbleConnectionMembers”. I respect all opinions and hope to see some more. Just show us what you have all —the good side along with the bad side. We are here to help with identification not judgment of condition or worth. This is a great marble—regardless of any damage. I just love this stuff!!! Not to be nit-picky here, Art, but while all wholly machine-made marbles might have two cut-lines, transitional (hand-gathered/machine rounded) types usually only have one - like these favorites of mine. As for "diaper folds", I think of them as a particular type of single-seam transitional where there is looping around the edges of the seam: I guess you're supposed to imagine a baby's legs sticking out of there - never made a lot of sense to me. 😄

Frankly, I think the term "diaper fold" has limited utility. My only point is that not all marbles have two cut lines.
bumblebee
It seems the Score! thread has veered into deep mibology debate...maybe ya'll could start a new topic in the general forum to focus the energy there. 😎
Ric
@bumblebee Sorry about that, Jason . . . it was all Art's fault! 😇 @akroorka 😛 Here's a recent 7/8" score . . . 1

The Nickel Guy
These showed up in a rather brittle envelope with a 1 1/2 cent Warren Harding stamp on it. I just looked that stamp up and it looks maybe from 1925. That means nothing but then again, I think these are very old marbles. So there weren't many and I paid the guy a fair amount. All but one were in very nice condition. That beautiful Akro Agate 2 color corkscrew has a chunk out of it. Made me a little sad as at first glance as it was my instant favorite of the lot. I am going to be listing some of these in the ID section. I see some sunbursts or sparklers in there. Maybe there's some oxblood on them. But it's a score.

The Nickel Guy
There were a lot of Jabo marbles and hundreds of tops with bases lots on a recent hibid auction I was watching. I tried to win some marbles but I was tighter than the skin on a hot dog with my money. I squeaked through a lot of being outbid and in the end I did get 20 of these tops with bases. I suppose they were made at the same time Jabo Ladies First marbles rolled out of the furnace. I looked at marbles in that run and they look a lot fancier and more colorful than these tops. Maybe they cleaned up the glass left in the furnace making tops and other stuff once they made all the marbles they wanted in a "run"? But I got these at a good price no matter what they are. They look to be maybe a little wider than an egg from this image and the bases even larger. I never saw one in person. I also bet they made these pairs bigger? Obviously some will be better than others in the lot.
