Anyone up for a road trip to Georgia?

Recommended Posts

Well, this could be a longer story but I will keep it short.

I have a small gold fish pond in the garden area of my homestead. I have to bring them in before it freezes. I keep them in a black Rubbermaid cattle tank in the basement and because of past complaints of not being able to see them, I decided this year to put some of my "disgarded" marbles on the bottom so they could be seen more easily.

This job took about 4 hours longer than it should have. I found more marbles that should have been kept than I realized back when I was in a different state of mind in my collecting of these little orbs.

This group reminds me of what used to be and what is now.

You just never know---keep-em all:confetti:

Marble--On!!!

Not mine by the way.

Nice....I'm all over the place, though still fond of Hair Nation. From James Brown to Kenney Chesney to Queensryche...one of many influences. Gotta say though, I love shooting a few good games of stick with some Zep!

Oh I'm not getting them.. sadly.. I was asking if anyone else wanted them! I have the info!

Make an offer, Sherry! Couldn't hurt. No one wants to overspend, but ya never know. We've all hit some nice little gems in jars/containers like that. My most memorable one thus far was an Akro Sparkler in a $12 jar. But obviously, we're looking at more than just a $12 jar. That's alot of fun in that picture. Not trying to push your buttons to buy, I just love the thrill of the chase. Maybe grab some advice from the pool of knowledge that is MarbleConnection. I think I know what I would offer. But what's the seller thinking? What's the seller know? Or doesn't Know? I would see what happens while trying to keep it in my budget 😊

Like William mentioned, make an offer who knows.

I bought some about the same amount that was advertised locally for $100.00 turned out to be a lot of fun.

You gotta be kidding...you actually read my $100 mind...🧠

I offered $250, but they declined.. he said that tone of the jars is a collection between 1920-1940 as a child. He claims there are $100 marbles in there and there are thousands upon thousands of marbles. I’m wondering if maybe I should offer the $250 for just that jug..

Been a while for me in that area of the country, lived in Jacksonville, Florida the first part of my life until 93'. Couldn't remember what part of the state Gainesville was in so had to Google 🤣....I still have extended family in Cordele as well as longtime friends in Waycross. My Stepfather's last name was Faircloth, his brother owned the liquor store there in Cordele for some time. Haven't been down that way since a 3 day visit too Lake City, Florida back in 2016. Concerning the marbles, old doesn't necessarily mean valuable and the seller's "claims" could be just what someone told him. I just couldn't see a collector knowingly tossing pricey mibs into a mass of commons, risking damage and such. I'm guessing he hasn't a clue about what's what in those containers. Hopefully someone negotiates and gets it down to a fair price!

That's a little far for me. If it looked like for sure good marbles I would be interested but it looks like 2 or 3 of those are most all 7/8"-ish marbles, which would mean probably jugs of JABOs. The others don't look very promising either but it's hard to get much detail. If they are already convinced they are worth thousands of dollars, I think it would be a waste of 10 hours of driving. If it was nearby I'd check it out to be sure. Thanks for the link!
