Hey Steph, these are all contemporary marbles, crafted by John McCormick, who is just as cool a person as his marbles are!!

;)

('Looking forward to his always being a "regular" on the front porch of the Country Inn at Wheaton!!)

I knew that, sue. LOL

Well, at least the part about them being contemporary.

I was guessing Buddy had made them actually!

And that slag. Wow. All I can say is good thing it's signed. It looks like the real deal.

Here is one I got from my old friend Tom (can you tell me where he's gone?) Reed. LOL j/k

It's signed with a cool little gold shamrock.

and yeah they do have that CAC look (If not for the mark) scary.

Some VERY exotic.

Get that site up...please?

So, naturally I've been curious about what exotics look like ever since I first read about them. I've not been lucky with finding photos though. It sounds like you're saying some of Mr. McCormick's could give me a fair idea?

Steph, to me a CAC striped opaque (or translucent) w/wild colors = "Exotic".

Some of Mr. McCormick's certaintly look constructed that way and with the wild colors? Voila!

but no they are not CA "Exotics".

There "Lucky Charms" and there magically different.005.gif

Get it?

Oh wow!

Great photos everyone!

I consider myself a "lurker", but feel a little compelled to be a "poster".

To all that have some "Shamrocks", I hope you enjoy them, because I enjoy making them.

One thing for sure is that they have a tendency to get the "exotic" conversation going.

Yeah, my website (or lack of one) sucks!

I find myself pulled in multiple directions by competing interests and commitments.

Shamefully, the website happens to fall into one of the "cracks".

Anyhow, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I won't be able to respond until later this evening.

Sincerely,

John McCormick

"Shamrock Marbles"

P.S. Sue, I can't wait for Wheaton! Hope to see you there!

P.P.S. Come see the Shamrock Marble Machine in action at Marble Crazy 2007!

:D

Get it?

At least part of it!

With so few if any actual Exotic owners posting pix of the mibs, I was just hoping to get a feel for what they looked like.

At least a sense of if the mibs are dazzling in their own right ... or if it is mainly the possibility of owning rare, recently discovered, minimally circulated CAC's which is the dazzling part? ^_^

(P.s., thank you Brad for pointing out that example.)

Chris,

I think you got that marble from Craig when he ran an auction for the KC Marble Club.

Right now I'm gearing up for Marble Crazy 2007 the first weekend in March.

I really don't have a good way to sell marbles other than let people look through trays.

I thought about Ebay, but I think all here can attest to the hassle.

I thought about using the website, but you already heard my lack of time for the website.

Guess I could take an "over all" picture of a tray or a group and let people who inquire to ask for better photos of individuals.

Just to give all an understanding on pricing...

1/2"-11/16" marbles sell for $10.

11/16 and larger sell for $15.

Really good "Flames" sell for $20.

(The last flame I made was sold last year to Terry at Marble Crazy 2006).

I sell peewees and rejects for $1 apiece, but you have to dig through the pile in person.

Thanks,

John

I am very interested in purchasing some also if you get time to figure out a way. I doubt if I will be able to get to KC. Let me know please.

James
