J_Ding
I'll take any of these you don't want! Love this orange-ade. John
disco005
Nice one John! In the middle photo, on the left side of the marble, that looks a little oxblood-ish, a thin strand, is it?
J_Ding
Thanks Jessica! I don't think so, but not sure. It looks like that brown that shows up in the ades from time to time. John

Steph
History flashback ... was reminded today ... Akro Prize Names were supposed to be called Fire Opals. That's the name which won the 1930 contest for naming Akro's new marble style. Prize Name was just the temp name on the boxes with the marbles and contest coupons in them. But Akro stuck with the Prize Name label for the basic corkscrew ... and called a different marble Fire Opal. ... and then the Fire Opal name appears not to have stuck around long. But then that takes me down to -10 examples left of this species in my collection-fewer than none apparently! How'd THAT happen?!

J_Ding
Yeah, I dig the brown corks. And I still seem to have issues with orange corks. I've only found a few of this type. Outstanding saturated orange with a buried ribbon of darker glass.

disco005
I know I've shared these all at one point or another, but here is a group shot of some oddball Akros in my opinion Starting at one o'clock position, going clockwise: 1. a purple cork on a wispy translucent base 2. an orange cork on a translucent green base 3. an orange cork on a translucent blue base 4. a deep blue and black cork on an opaque white base 5. an orange and transparent brown cork on a bubbly white translucent base 6. a pink cork on a black base 7. a light cornflower blue moss agate 8. Center: a white, black, and brown cork. I can't tell what the base is on that one
