  1. It's round glass,it's huge 2.7/16 of an inch,it has no marks or initials,it has no visible pontils. I thought of a paperweight, but it has no flat side. I'm not familiar with contemporary marbles, but this one intriques me. It looks like a multi colored one vane cat's eye. Does anyone recognize it?
  2. Is there any difference between a transp- Indian and a transp- banded,I know there should be but I can't see it,could someone tell me the difference?
  3. It's still amazing how everything shoots out of the ground again, they're so nice!!
  4. The older the wiser,I wish it was that easy, when I was young I didn,t believe it and now that I'm old I don't believe it either.
  5. I agree with Galen. Looks like a Dianbroth.
  6. The yellow/purple Amaterdam swirls are not easy to find, nice score!!
  7. There are some strange and ugly marbles out there!!
  8. I'm a real grandma LOL My own children got barely candy from me,but I make it good for my grandchildren.
  9. I usually throw them away, this one is too ugly to throw away LOL If you have them, please post them. Here's my machien made sulphide (cleary with debris)
  10. My grandmother lived in our house one floor below, her house was bomed in early WW11 and mij grandfather did not survive (I've never known him),so my granny came to live with us in Amsterdam. When I went to primary school,I always went to her in the morning, because she had some candies for me,I'm not sure wether it was one or a few candies. My other grandparents lived in Rotterdam, their house was bombed also during WW11,fortunately they both survived, later on when they came to visit us,they always took a Mars=milky way for me.Oh yeah I loved candy.
  11. I think you're right on the Dresden christmas ornaments,as you say they're very fragile and I think they're hollow inside. When I first saw the box I thought molded Zoo animals, probable made by Lineol, but I was obviously wrong, anyway it's a very nice box.
  12. What a beautiful box and looks complete!! The animals were made near Neurenberg and are made of some kind of composition (paper mach). If the animals are not signed it's impossible to say who made them because the moddelers worked for various companies, the most famous companies were Hausser and Lineol. Is there not any mark on the box?? Look at this. http://www.toy-soldier-gallery.com/Sources/LineolCatalogue/ForeignCatalogue37/ForeignCatalogue37.html http://www.toy-soldier-gallery.com/Sources/LineolCatalogue/Catalogue25/Catalogue25.html
  13. Hansel, the way Roger describes the cut-offs of the "Canedian"transitionals are similar of the transitionals that I find here in Holland. Indeed some of the smooth striping of the transparant slags looks a lot like MFC. Here are pictures of 2 slags I find here with smooth cut-offs. The marbles you posted in your first post are similar to some of the transitionals that I find here, here's a pic- of a variety that I found here,if you look at the right side, you hopefully see what I mean. At this point I don't think Veiligglas has anything to do with these transitionals, after all,Veiligglas has made marbles from 1949 until 1961.I really think the marbles we are talking about are older than that. It's indeed confusing and hopefully, one day we will find out more.
  14. The marbles which I'm very familiar. The marbles which I played with as a child. The marbles which I still love. The marbles which I still find a lot of here in Holland. And what do you think they are Hansel?
  15. Like to look at Rainbo's!! This one I found in Holland,it has pink/blue/green and yellow.
  16. Darla do you have any idea what they are or who made them? Galen does it has a name?
  17. I know it is Alley, but that last one comes close to Amsterdam swirls.
  18. Yes you did it,very nice Steph!!!!
