  1. Darla,What type of marble is that? I like it.
  2. Was looking in my hand-made box and found this one,it's 5/8. Is it uncommon for Laticinio's to have Lutz? The lutz is under the surface between the 5 ribbons.

    Agates

Good info- in this thread!! This tiny little minerals are 5/16,never understood what for they were used, might be for deco-. Those Cal- agates in the cigar box they look small aswell??
  4. They are normal size. I love the big shells,I'm always surprized how such a thing ,so beautiful and perfect, can arise without human input.
  5. Cause I was a bit inspired by Bob's picture of the Akro cornucopia, and cause I've a small collection of shells,so.........
  6. The ones I posted are not iridescent. Googled ïridescent",means: showing luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angels.
  7. Steph,By modern,do you mean new and they still make them? I think it's similar to these,I've always thought Vitro from about 70s-80s.Maybe Vitro made them for export??
  8. Ann,I think it's not only the temperature of the glass that cause the rough spidery cut-off's,but also the blades themselves, they may be not sharp but dull or old. I see those rough cut-off's on marbles other than transitionals aswell. Yes I think looking more closely at the glass and the pattern.
  9. Those tiny little jugs would be nice in a doll house. Some of the marbles look a bit like Benningtons,do they have sort kind of eyes?
  10. I also think Japanese. It's a pity Hansel that you can not study the cut-off's,it would not surprise me if they differ from each other, some are probably completely smooth (no noticeable cut-off's. Thats why I draw no conclusion at the differences in cut-off marks of these transitional type's. It's a very nice box!!
  11. Very nice, the ones you have made!! I mean this pattern reminds me of the first marble posted, second pic-. It's kind of a fern plant leaf or fan-shaped (with a bit of fantasy),I see it sometimes on both Alley and Veiligglas.
  12. some of the pattern of the transparant Alley's remind me of the transparant Amsterdam swirls made by Veiligglas. I like that kind of pattern.
  13. You're right Edna it's easier to post on facebook. I use photobucket here and it's almost as easy as it is on facebook. I've never noticed that people criticize the marbles you've posted here.If they do not like them they do not respond, tastes differ well once.
  14. WOW thats nice Bob,what is that big thing?
  15. Yeah,it's not as easy as I thought,I've googled so many I'm going cross-eyed from watching and found nada. There seem to be plenty of clues on the box to a certain direction, but it leads nowhere.
  16. If you find something Steph, please let us know.
  17. Saw this on Ebay, unfortunately was too late too bid on it. Notice the yellow ones,it seems they have a translucent base, that I have never seen before. So there was a glass factory "Yasuda"that has made transitionals.
