  1. Hey Bob,can you see him/her? A bit of contrast, your pic- in the nature and mine in Amsterdam under the train track.
  2. We played marbles in the spring, boys and girls together,on the side walk next to the street. Sought or made ourselves a hole. I believe i played from my 6th until 10th year.
  3. I still think the Germans have made the first cat's eyes, but have no proof, other than i found them in old groups with handmades and transitionals.
  4. I think i understand what Gnome means. I see it more as very handsome craftmanship and can imagine that not every marble collector is in love with it,anyway it's not my cup of tea but i do like some contemporary's
  5. LOL by Galen's reaction,i understand Ric's "bad"joke,or maybe Galen took it too personally.
  6. They look nice Ann,i'm also thinking they are new.
  7. Dad mom and baby bird, saw these cuties in the park today. They are so tame,i could almost catch them.
  8. the base glass looks a bit greenish transparant, when backlighted the base looks clear uncolored glass. Did you backlighted your marble? Why not post a pic-?
  9. He He,think i finally see the seam, after looking for 4 times. There are some very thin lines hardly visible,on both sides of the seam, hope it's visible at this pic-. So it seems the German ones could have very wild swirls.
  10. Clyde, the glass, the colors and the size is exact the same as the other str/tr.If that was not the case ,i would not have asked what it is,i would have thought it's a swirl. Galen,i really see no seam,it's like cat eyes, some sort of folded seam inside the marble, sorry i can't explain it very well. If there is already a seam,i think it should be at the center of this picture.
  11. This one was in the group of striped transp-. It has no visible seams,i wonder could one call it a striped transp-,does this issue also happen with American str/tr? The glass is the same as that other str/tr from the group.
  12. What Mark said,i was wondering the same thing??
  13. WOW,nice boards!! This one was in the mail with those other striped transp-
  14. I don't believe that we could buy those bags in shops, when i was young. My grand ma made it for me,but can't remember what it looks like,LOL i think the marbles were more important for me,and of course the game.
  15. No i've not saved that website. Here's another site that i've saved about stone marbles. http://www.gasthaus-kugelmuehle.de/geschichte_engl.php
  16. Maybe it sounds strange but i see them often here in Amsterdam, enough to eat here, with all the markets where they sell fish. Nice picture Bob.We call them Reigers
  17. I saved it when i was looking for German made marbles on the net.
  18. Beautiful Ric but what are they? stupid question they're marbles,i mean who made them? So thats the way they made marbles out of stone.
  19. Ann,i don't no why but they are much more difficult to find than the 2 seam slags.
  20. Galen,do you mean the 2 seam German slags, which have a transparant colored base and white striping in them? These have an uncolored clear base with colored striping. Most have 2 seams but some only 1 seam.
  21. German striped transp-,15/16,with a clear uncolered base. Wish i kew when they are made, any suggestions?
  22. I like the flamy Alley's. most of these Alley's i got from friendly forum members.
