    Fake Popeyes

3/4" Popeye's aren't all that uncommon - they look good to me too.
  2. No kidding, a "jar with old marbles" instead of the usual "old jar with marbles". Nice find.
  3. There are a number of different colorants that will fluoresce and, as I said earlier, what you see depends on the specific fluorophore, it's chemistry as interacts with other compounds, the wavelength and intensity of light you use to excite it, and how you perceive the visible wavelength of light it emits. And AFAIK not all of the glass that any particular company used fluoresces. I hope you have a strong background in chemistry and physics if you plan to go too far down into the fluorescence rabbit hole but, either way, I wish you well in your studies. 🙂
  4. I've got a Rainbo with a banana in it, does that count? lol
  5. According to the site you should be able to get 5,000 of them for about $550 + S&H. Have you compared the colors on that first one to the marble you posted yesterday - they look pretty similar.
  6. Ravenswood made some similar ones with red but I have not seen similar with orange. I have seen pretty similar marbles in old Champion mesh bags though. @wvrons has seen mine and didn't recognize it as Ravenswood either. And that sort of "splitting" of the white striping glass is a fairly common Champion trait too.

    Vitro 7/8

Might be a weak Parakeet (like a Parrot but only three colors) - weak because it has so much white showing.
  8. Shine it on as bag of Jacksons and you'll see even more.
  9. It's fun, for sure, and it can be useful for ID in some cases, but it is not too uncommon and almost every company made some marbles that glow in one way or another.

    Vitro 7/8

I think that's just some additional color in what appears to be a newer All Red. Is the patch as orange as it looks on my monitor or is it more red?
  11. There are some old DuaLites that are basically just a white patch on clear but there is just a touch, and I mean a tiny bit, of color on the bottom side of the patch and it makes it look like the base is colored. I think I've seen 3-4 different colored ones. I think it was a genius way to save money since, of course, the colored transparent glass would be more expensive to produce than clear.
  12. Navarre, Barberton, et. al, MFC, CAC, Akro, Peltier, Ravenswood, Alley, I think Vitro, and maybe others made their own glass in the early years, mostly up to the early-mid 40s (WWII era).
  13. A near perfect football too - cool.
  14. Two are 13/16" and two are 7/8"
  15. It's part of what makes glass so cool and Art Fisher was a master at using a tiny bit of color somewhere to make a clear base look colored.

I'm thinking you got into some dug Pennsboro Alleys with this one and the similar one you posted earlier too.
  17. Hats off to Mibby too! Does it glow?
  18. Then I'd go with Cairo - the wavy base glass in the first pic had me seeing things.
  19. Does the Conqueror have a transparent green base or is there green somewhere in there that makes it look that way?
  20. I hope somebody knows because I have had two of them for years and I haven't been able to figure them out. lol I lean towards an older Chamipon but . . . ?
  21. I could see Cairo too. What does the underside of the white ribbons look like - the part exposed to the base? Are they smooth or does it look like someone dragged a fork through them?

Seems likely they are Japanese marbles sold mostly in Canada.
