Bullet molds are historically associated with Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republic or Slovakia now). Here's an old one . . .
I have no idea who might be making them now though.
They are the same, as far as I can tell. But I think that's very weird pumpkin-colored striping for a Pelt and the seams aren't very Pelt-like either, IMO. Having said that, I am certainly no Pelt-head so maybe it's just a very strange type.
Okay, so I still haven't been able to lay my hands on that Pink "Bennington" but I did find an old pic. For this thread, you can certainly ignore the marble on the left - it's an early American. And I am sure there's a reason I photographed these two together - you might want to ignore the one on the right too. lol
The main reason I worry about them is because I don't think I ever saw one until about 8 years ago or so, and now this? When did you find your first one?
And I have never seen a damaged one. Have you? I am worried they are new. Maybe a JABO investor run or something.
Thanks for reposting this. It's a nice representation of the varieties out there. Some are obviously whimsical and kind of fun - maybe even decorated by kids. Others are likley huckster's poor attempts to duplicate vintage marbles and deceive.
I suppose the thing to remember is that there is no such thing as an antique magic marker. lol
