  1. Sorry Joe, thanks for your patience. Your OP sorta got lost in the shuffle. But you've been around long enough to know these things happen occasionally- marble collectors, you gotta love 'em. 🙂 Anywho, I am leaning slightly toward Akro on your marble, mainly because of the pumpkin colored patch. It would be nice to see what the interior looks like, though. Can you get any light through it?
  2. It's still a great find, Tommy. I think the only one I've ever had in hand was Bill's and he probably made me turn my pockets inside out before he let me touch it.
  3. I am not sure what the term "chocolate oxblood" describes other than Akro marbles like Bill's. But I'd be happy to learn more about it.
  4. See if you can find one with a red anywhere near that Ravenswood's. 😀
  5. Oh yeah, it's Ravenswood. Remember that red, Art. Alley made a good red too but when Ravenswood was on their game nobody could hold a candle to theirs, IMO.
  6. I agree, the green one is really cool - looks sort of like a Grenier to me.
  7. You're looking at the wrong marble, Art. Check the upper right mib in the right bag. The red on your marble is the Ravenswood tell.
  8. That's a great document. It makes me sad to see such an iconic name now being used solely for marketing purposes. I feel the same way about Bell & Howell's name being used to market cheesy products on TV.
  9. Very nice examples and a super interesting topic. I bumped a post in the archives that you may want to check out.
  10. Just bumping this for @hdesousa It's on e of the best discussions I could recall about trade marble beads.
  11. I think chocolate oxblood may have become a marketing term.
  12. As far as I know, Akro Chocolate Oxbloods have an oxblood patch on a chocolate colored base. Here is one of the best I've seen. @mibcapper posted it about 10 years ago.
  13. Take a look at those opened mesh Ravenswood bags I posted earlier, and then you tell me. It's a sweet one, Art!
  14. It's my Magic Bean - thanks to @Steph putting that name to it.
  15. Nice mibs, Dave. Sometimes simple is oh so sweet. I really like this tan one!
  16. I'm always looking for those batch-glass white tracers. They add a little extra zing to a good Alley.
  17. I agree, an Orange Rebel.
  18. Because the Ball's were squares?
