I was under the impression that some stone, maybe even marble, was imported to Germany. Does anyone else have ideas about this?

The only Pelt I see is upper left. The rest appear to be West Virginia Swirls. Pelts will most often have 4 ribbons running seam to seam - two on each half of the marble.

It's a pretty crazy thought but the chocolate covered marbles have me thinking about a candy coating.

Marbles are toys first, and they need to roll straight. I am sure that was and is the most important thing for any manufacturer.

As far as I know, MFC bricks are oxblood and it is also found on old German handmades like this one . . .
