  1. I would guess another Cairo - nice white.
  2. I see why you keep it, I like it too - a Cairo, I would guess.

Steph, you are a veritable fountian of information - I never would have known.
  4. That's where I am at this point too.

    This Patch

It's a nice marble, if the base glass under the white is mostly clear, I would lean Vitro - seams look it too. But the glass is pretty bubbly and I do see what could be sloppy flip-flopped ribbons so Pelt might be a possibility - haven't seen a Kokomo like it.

I agree, it sort of depends on what they mean by "durability" though. The Mohs Hardness of agate is about 36% greater than glass, but that's just "scratchability". Anyone care to look into pressure loading characteristics? lol.
  8. Does the name "Ringer" refer more to the game and the box the marbles were packaged in, rather than the marbles themselves? Did all Ringer boxes have the same type of marbles?

Now I am a little confused, since the marbles I show, which I think may be Cornelians, look hand gathered, and the add is from 1926.

That's what I was thinking too. I wonder if leftover MFCs inspired the "Red Striped" description.

Red Striped? A warrior, for sure.
  12. Just an odd, perhaps more interesting, one.

    Akro Or.....?

And when I see colors other than white (and the brick red) in a brick I immediately think not Akro.

Nice mibs. And not just Carnelians - Red Striped Carnelians, interesting. I wish they were in a mesh bag, but why not, I guess. Could I be any more non-commital? lol. I do agree with Galen though - that Cornelians show some translusence: Backlit in hand, the left is distinctly orange and the right is distinctly red.
  15. It seems our microbiome becomes more important every day. It's actually a very hot area for research. Ever heard of fecal transplants? No kidding man, a nasogastric tube no less.
  16. I gotta admit, I looked at and my mouth is now watering - I really do love a good cheddar.
  17. Those are different, for sure - like a cross between a single vane cat's eye and a brushed patch.

That's what i thought too, Galen. What did Akro actually call their solid oxblood marbles?
  19. Well that is unusual then. I am not quite sure what to say about it. Could you get a pic?
  20. She is nice - big eyes. The bunny scares me just a little though. I mean, it looks like a child in a bunny suit, until you look at the feet. Now I'm not sure, and it's a little disconcerting. lol
  21. Not many Vacors have seams. What does the other seam on this one look like?

Cornelians are more like Bricks but not oxblood, as I understand it. But one of the big problems with this discussion is that there is so much variation in marbles (maybe even in what Akro actually packaged in the same boxes) and boxes can be backfilled with the "wrong" marbles. I have seen huge variations in marbles in both Cornelian and Carnelian boxes. So much so, that I am not entirely sure how to define them.
  23. I don't know, Steph. I have seen some odd Kokomos and there is a bit of a flip-flop on the white part of the marble, and the little 'slit' in the black color so . . . ?

I think they would qualify as Ades (if they glow). But one person's orange is another's red so I think you might get differing opinions about orange or cherry. From what i can see, I might go cherry on Hack's and Orange on Winnie's but then, what do I know.
