  1. Thanks again, Rick, it's not really brown, looks a bit more like a blackish contaminant, and there's a fine streak of yellow slightly separated from the main patch there too, where the base glass shows through a bit, which adds to that appearance . . . I think. And thanks to you too, Jim. I agree that the Victory base should be bubble-free. And I had always thought Pelt made this type - I don't think I've ever seen similar attributed to Kokomo, but it wouldn't surprise me too much, and I am in Indiana so . . .?
  2. Frankly, I find the level of sexist rhetoric in this thread reprehensible . . . I mean, hey . . . Cub Scouts did arts and crafts too! LOL.
  3. Hey Rick, Oddly enough, none of mine glow. But maybe I'm biasing the result, since I have the free-form patches with real bubbly bases in with my Pelts - thinking that the base on Victories is bubble-free. Do your Victories have bubbly bases like the ones I show? Am I sorting these correctly? Thanks.
  4. Thanks Steph, I think these are all Pelt too . . . but that pic in P.A.M. has me scratching my head . . . have you seen it? I always thought similar Vitros (Victories) had a bubble-free base. And the base on the two glowers does indeed have a light green tint. I also have others that don't glow, and the base is not tinted on those. -Ric
  5. Can anyone tell me how common it is for this type to glow? Thanks.
  6. That's what I was thinking too - but need pics, for sure.
  7. For sure . . . it's amazing what a little soap and warm water will do.
  8. I can't say that I have . . . but I hope you haven't lost it - it looks like a nice one to me!
  9. Does anyone have any thoughts on the yellow patch on bubbly clear (Vitro?) shown at the top of page 174 in Popular American Marbles? I always thought this was a Peltier until I noticed that pic - now I'm wondering . . .
  10. Man, I love Vitro colors with lots of transparent glass . . .
  11. Too sweet, Craig! I especially like the yellow and teal CAs. WOW!
  12. Hey Bill . . . I'll sure let you see it - maybe even hold it - depending on my mood . . . and swimming in the river is what I was hoping to hear . . . I just hope you're not in your living room while you're doing it. Take good care, I'll be talking to you soon.
  13. Here's a neat little swirl. It's pretty cool the way the structure of the three-color ribbon is maintained as it dives down into the base and snakes around inside . . .
  14. It really is cool, Dani. I see all kinds of things on/in it with a loop - certainly some filaments that look like oxblood, but I don't really think it is - certainly an enigmatic little marble . . .
  15. Please excuse the dirty marble and poor pics. This is a tough one to photograph. In normal room light it looks like a black cork on a red/orange base. But a closer look reveals a stripe of black/green/gold and browns with three complete twists on a dark red/orange transparent base, that looks a bit like a snake when backlit. I've never seen another quite like it. Does anyone know anything about this type?
  16. coupla drizzly lookin ones in there - mmmmMMMMM. -Ric
  17. The question is . . . are there any cut lines (seams) like you see in the left shot here, right along the red patch?
  18. Are there any seams or cold rolls on that mib?
  19. O.K. That's what I thought too. So the question now is . . . which ones? You KNOW I like those B&G's Buddy! And you got it . . . that marble's Texas-bound. NOW, just imagine there's a mint 1 3/4" blue and green CAC diaper fold right . . . here.
  20. What got me thinking about it is marbles like those in posts #119 and #172. They really have a hand gathered-looking pattern on the side opposite the fold.
  21. Buddy 'ol Buddy 'ol Pal . . . SORRY! While you are most certainly perceptive, you are most certainly NOT a woman! Please excuse my buffoonery! Which one of those "fall cat's eyes" do you want - left or right? And FYI: This is what I would have said had WINNIE actually written that . . . Because you are a very perceptive woman, Winnie. Why else? LOL.
  22. Thanks Steph, I guess my question really is . . . Is "diaper fold" a more specific designation than "single seam"? For instance, perhaps only applicable to hand gathered marbles, or Christensen marbles, or . . .?
  23. Are some/any/all diaper folds hand gathered?
