I appreciate response, Fire. I totally understand the difference between left- and right-handed spin. What throws me is the idea that it can somehow be used as a diagnostic tool to sort machine-made marbles by company. In the other thread you said, "Pelt’s spin Counter Clock Wise. This one spins Clock Wise". At this point, I am not even sure what to say, since these photos seem to contradict the first part of that statement. If they don't, please explain and I'll be happy to continue the discussion. Otherwise, I prefer to end it here.

Nice mibs. I agree with Art, the lashes in photo 5 are awesome!

Happy Easter you are who you are--and----

Happy Easter everyone. -
@akroorka I appreciate the response, Art. It was an admirable attempt to explain. Unfortunately, I still don't get it. Can you contrast the traits that indicate clockwise vs counterclockwise spin on these marbles? I could probably figure it out from there.

Breath easy, Dave. If it's an inch, it's probably an Alley. AFAIK the JABOs were only made in 5/8"

There is little doubt that some of the white-based JABO examples, the sparser ones in particular, are mistaken for Alleys. Of course, this leads to a host of problems. I have heard varying stories about the number of the JABOs that were made. They might be less common than Spruces. Regardless, I am glad I had my Spruces before they were made.

5/8" is not too big for Ravenswood. They certainly made more 9/16" than Alley but they made a lot of 5/8" marbles too.

@akroorka I have had groups in hand on a couple of occasions but I don't own any. The only reliable photo I could easily find is from JABO Land: There is quite a bit of variation in them. When the AV is thick, it's pretty easy to tell it's not an Alley - it's harder when the AV gets thinner. But FWIW, I have not seen many Alleys with as sparse of coverage or the degree of "chunkiness" that you see on some of Sammy's.

I'd be careful with this one. It looks like it might be from Sammy Hogue's AV run at JABO.

The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...

It's a fantasy board. -
I'm thinking JABO.

Interesting - I wonder how it was made. Is there only a single cut-off?

@I'llhavethat1 I'm not sure I've seen a solid core with so many colors - almost looks like a Joseph's Coat. I'm not even sure what to call this marble besides awesome. The colors and construction are beautiful! What do you call it?

The last ones you posted look like JABOs to me.

That was my exact thought when I saw it!

One of the coolest game marble I've ever seen!

I like old boxes too, Art, and this is a nice one!

It's a nice tray, Art. I'd be tempted to display it with the small one inside. I don't think you'll ever get the crud off without drastically changing the look of the tray so I would probably leave it.

We eat supper at home or dinner out, which seems kinda odd now that I think about it. 🙂

I don't get the idea of "spin" on a machine-made marble, unless we're talking about corkscrews. Honestly, I wouldn't know if the OP spun clockwise, counterclockwise, or not at all. How can you tell? Could you show me a comparison of right vs left spin on a machine-made? I am totally lost with this idea.

Nice buy, the marbles look pretty clean and AV is always a plus - looking forward to seeing more of them!

Happy Thuringen Thursday! Here's a 11/16" single ribbon core with a jelly center and some cool bubbles.
