  1. Well, that's different, for sure. I've not seen a paperweight like it before. I wonder if there is any significance to the "arrowhead" backdrop that the cross is on?
  2. It looks like an Akro Corkscrew with a little clear in it.
  3. West Virginia Marble Collector's Club run (April 2011) The marbles around the base are 3/4". The 2" sphere and stand were made by Andy Davis using glass from the run. I no longer own it.
  4. Welcome to the Marble Connection - what a great bunch of Veiligglas! I look forward to seeing more of your collection.
  5. Asian seems right to me too - a bit of an Imperial look to it.
  6. Left and center look Vitro to me. Colors on the right one have me thinking a deformed newer MK.

    2 cats eyes

The left one looks mostly foreign to me, maybe an outside chance of Master. The right one looks like a way overstuffed Peltier Banana, IMO - very cool.
  8. @treetiger Turkey heads are usually specifically associated with CAC marbles, even though you may see similar shapes on other maker's marbles. I usually refer to the more generalized shapes simply as "bird heads". Here's a fairly typical rendition of an Alley bird head . . . but I've seen these on other maker's marbles too. They are random swirls after all. πŸ™‚
  9. I guess if you're talking "true black" it's probably more limited - Akro, CAC, Alley, Pelt - I may have missed another, can't remember. πŸ™‚ True black was a pre-cullet marbles kinda thing - formula glass, as far as I recall.
  10. I'm having a hard time thinking of a company that didn't make black and white marbles.
  11. Nice gifts - happy belated birthday too! πŸ™‚
  12. I assumed it was pelt, since RAR's got lots of dug Pelt stuff.
  13. I agree on the pinch "pontil" slag.
  14. Lots of Zebras and Skunks without AV. As for the "copper", I'm not seeing it. It looks more like some sort of dirt/clay debris to me.
  15. @Fire1981 Since you said "Figure 8 Rainbo" in your title, you should know that the Figure Eights are not Peltiers. As far as I know, they are related to "Mushrooms". Many of them were originally found in Canada but I think they are of Asian or European origin.
  16. So oogly - I love it! Probably one of the most interesting Conquerors I've seen!
  17. This one looks more slag than swirl, IMO - drizzly, I like it.
  18. For me, Heaton and Alley come to mind with this one but, as Art said, they're quite common and several WVS companies made similar.

    Flame?

These days, to qualify as a Flame, most people like to see 5 stacked tips - this one does not qualify. I wouldn't really even call it "flamey".
  20. Not so much caged style as weird sunburst-y kinds of things with structures all over the place and really poor quality control.
  21. The marbles are thought to be Peltier since the origin on Gropper boxes is Ottawa, IL. Photos are from an auction Steph posted in 2007: The forum's search function is a wonderful thing. πŸ™‚
  22. Bottom line . . . in the case of the OP marble, onyx = slag and vice versa. I just didn't want the Steven to get the idea that his marble was not a slag.
