  1. I think these boards came with Vitro marbles in that cool black and silver deco style box.
  2. That's a very nice board. If those marbles are 7/8" it's even better!
  3. I was actually sitting at the Amtrak station in Albuquerque when I sent that response. 😄
  4. No, it's not a pontil, just an imperfection on a wholly machine made marble.
  5. The color varies quite a bit with Ghosts. The coolest one I have is what I call a Super Ghost. They are essentially just basic St. Mary's Alleys made using base glass that had more than its fair share of clear.
  6. If the base is very translucent, I'd guess Alley Ghost.
  7. I'm with Rick - sorta looks like an Onyx or maybe a Cardinal Red gone wild.
  8. Probably Dragonflies then - looks like it from Albuquerque, anyways. 🙂
  9. I know JABO had a peewee machine but not sure where it came from.
  10. Ric

    Kokomo?

That 's what initially threw me - mine is one of the cruddiest looking Pelts I've seen. Thanks for posting yours!
  11. Far less, I'd say.
  12. Just a few more common types on this MK Monday . . .
  13. Yes - the extent that the pattern produced by the striping glass appears on the marble's surface. You did, and I appreciate it too! I imagine that with machine-made marbles a lot of it is just randomness and luck, so to speak. I certainly have seen these types of calligraphy marbles with better "coverage". But as you mention, the majority have a weak "backside". And looking at the CAC photo you provided here adds a lot to your explanation of how the glass flow changes in remelted marbles like the one you discussed in another thread - thanks for that too!
  14. I absolutely love this Champion Agate!
  15. I'm a lucky boy! And I sure would like to see this thread grow!
  16. Thank you, it is also one of my favorites. I like everything about it - the white base and the Alley signature blue. Could maybe have a little better coverage but it's definitely a keeper in my book too. 🙂
  17. Something seemed off about this marble, and I think John put his finger right on it.
  18. Whoa, John, that's a nice marble - the size is great, and I really like the the cutoff and the looping!
  19. Thanks for checking that Dave - I'm impressed that you found it! I was expecting it to glow green. It's interesting that it doesn't.
  20. I even like Cloudies . . . 🙂 Some of the coolest "game marbles" around, IMO.
  21. And another Alley for good measure . . . A good white-based Calligraphy is no easier to find than one with a colored-base, IMO.
  22. And a less pretty Alley . . . Still cool though - I like the copper-colored metallic ones.
