  1. Nice find, Joep - there are some really attractive marbles in the group!

    ID Swirl

I think they are most likely Alley too.
  3. Pretty sure it's an Acorn vending machine made by the Oak Manufacturing Co., although I'm not sure of its age.
  4. I would guess that beautiful hand-gathered slag in the OP was made by MF Christensen, although Christensen Agate and Akro Agate also produced similar types. Slags are fairly simple marbles that have white striping glass swirled in transparent base glass. Sometimes the base glass is clear, but most often it is colored. The "flats" or "gems" you show were made for decorative purposes and are much newer.
  5. Air bubbles are not a good indicator of age - lot's of marbles have them, from old to new. Age is usually determined based on the type of marble and/or the company that produced it. A considerable amount is known about the history of marbles and the companies that produced them, and many companies advertised their marbles in magazines and such, so age can sometimes be narrowed down that way.
  6. Biscuits and Red Eye Gravy with a side of extra color . . . . . . members of the "Pea Family"
  7. Yes, a Vitro Opal with some extra color - nice one!
  8. Welcome to the Marble Connection, Pete! Most of the marbles you show are Asian Cat's Eyes. Although, the the big blue one and the blue/red one appear to be newer Vacors from Mexico.
  9. From this single view, it looks like a good possibility of German striped opaque to me, Chris.
  10. It's an odd one, for sure - lot's of bubbles and debris. I'm thinking about Master possibilities - weirdly enough, may even Kokomo. Does it glow under UV? I'm not really seeing Pelt or Vitro here but . . . ?
  11. No oxblood of any type there, Charlie. It looks like a WVS of some sort.
  12. Man, you have been showing some outstanding examples of Akro marbles - thanks for posting them!
  13. That's what I thought too.
  14. Yes, I'm not. 🤣
  15. I know what your thinking . . . I thought about it too but I eventually thought better of it.
  16. I quit using "Parakeet" for the smaller ones when I found out that Chuck B. and Ron didn't like the usage. I call them Baby Parrots now. Here are a couple more . . .
  17. After reading the Vitro book and discussing the issue with Ron, I learned that size does not matter with Parrots or Parakeets - only the number of colors is important - Parrots have four and Parakeets have three. Size only matters when discussing rarity.
  18. Parrots are opaque white-based marbles that have four colors other than white. The best ones will have no white showing. Parkeets are similar but have only three colors on the white base. Do I see another ribbon of very light lavender color opposite the yellow? If this marble has the white and colors veneered on a clear transparent base, I would agree with Vitro Tiger Eye. Otherwise, I'll stick with Akro.
  19. I think it's a later Akro patch.
  20. Most look like Alleys to me, although the bottom one might be a Champion.
