I would classify it as a "FANTASY" bag. The bandito would be the "fantasyizer"

Designing A Marbles Museum Display
Greatmacscott replied to Greatmacscott's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Very good suggestions. Board games, including marble games are in a different exhibit. What I am leaning towards is - One shelf dedicated to antique handmade marbles, swirls, sulphides, clays, benningtons, etc. - Second shelf dedicated to American machine mades, early 1900s through the 1950s. Include marbles and packages - Third shelf with marbles from the 1960s on, Cat Eyes, Mega, etc. Foreign made marbles - Another shelf sharing contemporary/art glass marbles with some non game uses of marbles like - The bottom for marble tournament memorabilia medals, trophies, etc. We have a special display for the 1947 VFW National trophy and the story of the winner of that trophy. The back wall will have lots of images of children playing marbles with a few figurines on the shelves. I appreciate all the suggestions. Keep the ideas coming. -
I have been asked to design a marble display for a local toy museum. I am open for suggestions about what should be included. The only limitation I have at this point is the size of the case for the display. It is 72 inches tall. 46 inches wide and 11 inches deep. It will contain 5 or 6 adjustable glass shelves. What would a "well-rounded" display include to make it interested for casual museum goers and marble collectors too? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Scott

I don't know if anyone else sent in absentee bids but it is obvious they were not taken into account for the auction.

Kansas City Marble Show-Who Went????
Greatmacscott replied to Minnesota Marble's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
It was a very good show. A few stats from the Sunday show: Display Tables - 52 Walk through traffic - 230+ Marbles that changed hand - too many to count. Attendees from as far away as Oregon, California, Texas, West Virginia, Virginia and numerous places in between. Next year's show is Sunday March 6 with Marble Crazy at the Moon on March 4th and 5th -
2 Weeks To Kc Marble Show - Who Is Coming?
Greatmacscott replied to Greatmacscott's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
To Clarify, room nights are the total number of nights a marble collector will be occupying a room at the hotel where the show is held. Why are room nights important? The rate the hotel charges the Marble club for the room is based on a sliding scale. the more rooms booked under the marble club block means the lees the club has to pay for the show room. As of last Monday, there we 56 individual rooms reserved for the marble show. Table reservations are still available for show day. 47 or 50 tables are spoken for. When the other 3 tables are claimed, w2e will start our waiting list to fill in for any possible classifications. -

Don Taylor! That is a blast from the old days of Amana. I remember him leaving the show one weekend a tipping his cart over in the parking lot and marbles going everywhere. Many people have fond memories of CAPTAIN MARBLE! To bad it is the same weekend as the KC Marble Show. Oh well, absentee bids cut down on "auction fever taking control :-)

The first "organized" show in Kansas City was in March, 1990. It was preceded by "unofficial" gatherings of marble collectors at marble auctions held in the mid to late 80s at hotels in the Kansas City area by an auctioneer from Fort Scott, Kansas. The current Kansas City Marble Collectors Club is hosting it's 12th consecutive show this March. Marble Crazy at Moon Marble Company, Bonner Springs, Kansas, is celebrating the 15th contemporary marble show and demonstrations in 2015.

Bert always had a great "my friend" every time I walked into his room over many years at Amana. I personally counted him as one of the special people in the hobby. My prayers to Rosalie.

What Do You Use For Marble Stands?
Greatmacscott replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I use rubber O rings - They come in all sizes, available at local hardware stores in bulk, and they are cheap. And you hardly notice they are there. -

KANSAS CITY MARBLE COLLECTOR'S CLUB FALL MINI MARBLE MEET – Saturday, September 27 10:00 am to 3:00 pm So what is a mini marble meet? A mini marble meet is a day show where the club has rented part of the Liberty Missouri Community Center for the day. Like a regular show, there will be tables available for display and dealing. The show will start an hour later than usual so folks can drive in and save a hotel bill if they so desire. We will publicize the event locally to make the general public aware of the event. TV coverage is in the works but could be preempted by an outbreak of crime or a natural disaster. The admission to the show is FREE to the public and tables are available for a DONATION. The folks at the tables decide what is fair to the Marble Club to help cover the cost of the event. It is not the club’s intent to make money but only to provide the opportunity to expand the hobby of marble collecting and promote our Spring Show and Moon Marble’s Marble Crazy that same spring weekend. Flyers for the Fall Mini Meet are already on the street and drawing interest. FALL MINI MARBLE SHOW DETAILS: Date: Saturday, September 27, 2014 Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Location: Liberty Missouri Community Center 1600 Withers Avenue Liberty, MO 64068 For Additional Information or reserve a table, contact: Charles Williams – [email protected] Or Scott McBride – [email protected] Hotels in Liberty, Missouri if you are interested in coming to KC the evening before the show: Booking.com - searching for Liberty, Missouri, lists 15 hotels/motels. Since we are not expecting enough people for this first Liberty show to warrant a block of rooms, we didn’t negotiate a room rate. The highest ranked Hotel by customer rating is the Hampton Inn and Suites. I know the manager personally and the hotel is very clean and friendly. I explained room trading and marble shows to him so there shouldn’t be any surprises there. As you review the list, the Sleep Inn (has a water park), Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn and Suites and the Fairfield Inn and Suites are about the same distance as the Hampton from the Liberty Community Center and of similar quality. While not discouraging your free choice of accommodations, If you consider limiting your choices to the list above list, the quality might be a little better. Thanks for all you support of the KC Marble Club in the past and in the future. Scott

Chad a.k.a. Luke Come to the Dark Side of marble collecting - handmade marbles. Your pelts will soon be only a distant memory! You may not be able to show your face at future marble shows when word gets out. And yes, it is beautiful

It's a North American Spotted black on black, Ohio Cro. The African cro's beak is to tight to hold a marble and the European Cro never leaves Bulgaria.

Glass looks awfully good to be old. McKinley's Campaign slogan was Patriotism, Protection, and Prosperity, close. I am guessing reproduction.

What kind of Bird lives in a bird cage marble? Why are Indians, Indians since they are not from India nor did American Indians play with them? Does a Gooseberry make a sweet pie? Why did akro make so many corkscrews and never produced a single bottle of wine? How far can a Cro fly with a marble in it's beak?

Can a certain unnamed, self proclaimed, marble guru create a last run, batch of marbles that are more collectable and more desirable than any other last batch of marbles made until the next last run of marbles which will be rarer and even more collectable ever made? That to me is a mystery.
