  1. I agree, Step....unreal! Bob, thank you. I am glad you enjoy it. It will certainly hold high honors within my contemps! James has some pretty wild and fun not to mention beautiful to view marbles no doubt. This particular one is a {prototype} if you will, of a style he named the Raelynbo. Normally he finishes the pontil completely smooth although in this case I assume because it was for study and not for sale he did not finish it, although he did sign it. Kind of makes it just a little more special to me.
  2. I received this James Alloway in the mail today. A gift from a friend. 2.5 inches. Never been an avid collector of contemps although I have a small collection. This marble goes right to the top and I will surely have more of James's marbles at some point, they are fantastic.
  3. LMAO! Worth a shot. =} That is a pretty nice case.
  4. Hey Galen, being as worthless as they are....please go right ahead and drop that little showoff box you carry around in the mail to me asap. I would hate to see you get mugged over something so worthless. Just lookin out for you buddy! =}
  5. I am sad for you, Galen. =} Yes I do! In fact I am surprised your eyelashes are not green! Tough game, I can only imagine the team could hear you from your living room! lol
  6. so, how is that celebration goin? =} Still tis a great haul ya got there!
  7. Galen is probably not currently in the mood to post! Seahawks to the Superbowl.
  8. Looks like a great haul, Galen. You will need that cheering up after the game today. lol
  9. I played marbles as a kid. Then some years later, married to my first wife and having a rough spell, we looked for a common interest to do together. I had always had the collectible and antique hunt in the blood. She wanted to collect Hull and Rosewood pottery. As we searched the antique shops (early 90's} I came across a jar of marbles and then a tray of marbles marked $4.50 each. I said to myself..."really? Marbles?" I went to the collector book section to look in the big book of toys. While searching for that book I happened across a few marble collecting books and while scanning the pages, remembered my early days of playing marbles. I went back to that tray and purchased a few marbles at $4.50 each. This drove the wife nuts! I loved that and my found memories and little did I know had caught the bug. I still have the marbles from that first purchase. Here are a couple of them.
  10. Yes Bob, Very limited. A good portion of those marbles were donated to the Marble Museum.
  11. Bob, these Vtro were made in Anacortes and quite rare. They were an experimental thing and There were only about 120 made if memory serves. There were a few different colors. It is said that there were visitors at the plant in Anacortes around the time of these experiments whom were shown the proscess and those visitors were from Vacor. This is very well were Vacor came up with the marbles they ran that are similar.
  12. +1 to that! Hope for good weather, maybe we'll take the jeep to dinner again!
  13. How about a little Saturday morning Vitro. purple Confetti.
  14. Everything about this marble for me says Peltier. The colors, the construction and the glass itself, both in look and in the movement,
  15. Nice Pelt, Chuck. Boy would I love to find one like this and then one all swirled up to set next to it. I like the name actually as I have seen Sallies with all of those colors and the base seems to fit as well. Very nice.
  16. I want it too, and I have hostages.
  17. A nice but confusing swirl Ernie. It looks old to me as well. The colors are what is throwing me. In different colors I would immediately go to either Ravens or Alley depending on what the colors said, but these colors??? Will be interesting to see what is thought.
  18. Oh man....I have one of these but this one is just killer. My favorite of the bunch today.
  19. Horrible ugly marble, you had better just send it to me right away, before it infects the rest of your collection. lol Yeah, ok....maybe I just don't have this combo yet, =}
