  1. I got some nice marble mail today. Here's some from the Sears portion of the package. To be continued ....
  2. More Albright ... with the Professional name. This box used to be Ron Schleser's. Well, it said Albright on top. Said Christensen on the side.
  3. Here's an Albright from a Morphy auction.

    1in think Jabo

Well, like I said, I'm not totally sure I'm seeing it right, but the splattery look that I think I'm seeing reminds me of some in Al's post here: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/23359-i-want-to-seeolder-vacor/?do=findComment&comment=209872
  5. The ribbon is wide than I would generally expect on a silver oxblood, and those shades don't look right -- that thinning brown on the edge. I don't think it's a good chance.

Not the views I'm used to seeing. Makes it harder to be sure. I'm leaning Vacor here. Would be good to have some regular light photos at different angles to make sure.
  7. Mondo cool. Had to look really hard to see the guinea line. What a find.
  8. If on a white base, I think you got it. wow
  9. I was looking for something else at Google Books ... and found this snippet from 1959. Printers' Ink, Volume 266, page 44. "Berry Pink Industries, the leading maker of marbles, has switched to postcards as a substitute for samples. Marble can weigh as much as a pound per bag. Berry Pink's line became too large for salesmen to carry around and too heavy to send ... " https://books.google.com/books?id=fN4TAQAAMAAJ&focus=searchwithinvolume&q=berry+pink Interesting to have a date. I would have guessed a few years earlier if they're the ones I'm thinking of. Anyone have any of the postcards?

Without the brown, I'd be solid Akro. Don't know what to make of the brown.

(I also have a niggling "foreign" thought on #1. As my third guess i wondered about Anacortes Vitro but I think I'm thinking of something a little more yellow and not so amber.)

Amber base on the first? I'll throw a Master guess into the mix. Wondering about Akro on #3.
  13. This is one I think of from time to time, especially when peewees are mentioned. "No larger than a good-sized marrowfat pea." 1883 Marbles, and Where They Come From, by A. W. Roberts https://books.google.com/books?id=9Fg_AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA379 If you haven't seen that one yet, do check it out. It's informative and charming. And illustrated.
  14. Ha! Someone besides me bumped this. I can't tell you how happy that makes me! I haven't learned anything recently.
  15. I dug and dug and didn't find them. Did find something round ... but it turned out to be some kind of little cap, like for the end of a chair leg. I'll dig some more tomorrow.
  16. This is tan in the middle .... but that's not lavender, is it ... no matter how much I want it to be. More a hot pink. Well, it's lavender now. Let's make the next one easy --- any kind of metallic.
  17. This is the year I plan to start a marble run. Maybe June. I don't care if it's nailing a hose to the wall and sending a marble through it, I will do something just to feel I'm moving forward.
