  1. Beautiful. Do you live near there? Will you be able to go back in the heat of the summer? What a great escape.
  2. accidental backyard art -- digging the tomato cages -- the view from my kitchen window
  3. Owls and marbles ... two great tastes that taste great together.
  4. Thanks, Paul. Yeah, that'd be the one. I was getting a niggling swirl impression, too, complete with Alley feeling. But I kept hovering over that slag vs. swirl fence.
  5. Went yardsale-ing. Picked up some more plants. Got a lot of advice, including to use peat moss and manure to condition the black dirt I'm hauling in from the compost site. So, I got some peat moss and I look online for advice for how to use it. Such as how much to mix in with the dirt. And mostly I'm not finding much help. MOSTLY it looks like the sites are trying to make me feel guilty for having the peat moss because it took thousands of years for the peat bog to grow and there are dwindling supplies. I had no idea. So now what do I do with this block of peat in my garage? Can't throw it back.
  6. Unless I skipped something, I think this is the last folder. "Unrelated triplet - yellow and white; dark blue and …bow red maybe)" The first two (#47 and 49) might be Akros. More views -- especially of the seams -- could help. The third, #52, is a Marble King Rainbow Red.
  7. "Unrelated triplet - small green, transparent swirl, possible slag" #24 ... not seeing enough ... can't make out what's inside #21: WV swirl #15: Yikes. I see why you say "possible slag". You could be right. Sometimes it's hard to tell if something is a slag or a "transparent swirl". And right now I'm not comfortable saying on this one. @lstmmrbls? @jeeperman? anyone? wanna peek in at that link and see if the red and white marble speaks to you?
  8. "Unrelated triplet - small clear blue, orange and whi…bow red maybe" #8 looks like a clearie from here #11 ... need more views ... wondering if it's a corkscrew ... but definitely need to see more #12 Marble King Rainbow Red
  9. Almost to the end! Pushing on! "Unrelated triplet - orange, blue, green and white; re…ite (p&k maybe)" #56 - Vitro Tiger Eye #57 - Vitro blackline All Red #59 - Marble King Rainbow. By "p&k", did you mean "p&r"? Coz, yes, it's a "patch and ribbon".
  10. "Unrelated triplet - dyed clay, possible Japanese cat … size Vitro all red" I think you got it -- clay, Asian cat's eye, and large size blackline All Red. Nice to have a big one. I don't know if I have a big one.
  11. "Unrelated triplet - blue, green and yellow; red, oran… swirl; small clear" #19 Marble King Tri-Color Rainbow #20 West Virginia swirl #23 looks like a clearie from here
  12. Well, looks like I'm the only one playing. I'm still game. Just going slow. Was a long day. "Unrelated quadruplet - Vitro blackline style all red; …llow and orange" Two of 'em are Vitro blackline All Reds, as you suggest. #27 and #41. #29 is a regular All Red. #34 is probably also a Vitro. I'm not sure about style name though.
  13. hey, spell check didn't like my word! can't understand why
  14. Folder #14 "Unrelated quadruplet - rust and white; blue and clear; rainbow" #1 Vitro Conqueror, 1940's #4 Asian cat's eye ... this could be one of your newer marbles. There _were_ Asian cat's eyes in the 1950s, but they've been making 'em nonstop since then until the present time. Hard to date Asian cat's eyes. But the very earliest ones tended to be neatly made and had clearer base glass. #5 and #46 Marble King Tri-Color Rainbow, late 1950's to early 1960's. Well, I'm off to do some heavy-duty gardening ... digging up sod ... hauling in dirt. Happy Saturday.
  15. Well, I've been out most of the day, so that was my quick peek this evening. Be back later.
  16. "Unrelated pair - blue, green, yellow and white; bloo… black and white" I think Vitro on both of these. The question is age. I'm not quite sure I'm making out the structure of the first one, #66. Is the blue color on the surface in this one? Could be we're looking at a Tiger Eye from the 1950's. The 2nd one, #69, appears to be a Vitro Tri-Lite, from the 1930's.
  17. "UM small creamy, swirly with clear center" #31 ... in one view looks like an Akro corkscrew. But I think it's likely a WV swirl. #32 and 54 are probably "game marbles", since your title suggests the size is on the small side. They can have some subtle variations in color but they're thought of as "single color" and are for things like Chinese Checkers. Probably the same for #35, 16, 50 and 28.
