  1. The purple in the top one slays me. I used to think the purple in the pink base horseshoe was the purpliest but that top one. The black glitter is stellar ... from the base I'd say Asian. But ??????
  2. I adore marble innards. More than a marble collector should! "Innards" is such a cool word. I know I'll have something to add to the thread. And I know others do too.
  3. I was wondering if the modern ones would mess with the solution to this riddle.
  4. Brian, this thread took a direction I didn't want it to go. If you would like to start a different thread with some informational posts about the project, we can designate it a safe zone and keep the not-so-happy posts in threads like this one. Jmac, do you want news about the project posted or not? If you feel strongly about it, one would think you'd like the information to be available. Dedicating your first posts to dire implications about the project doesn't seem conducive to keeping the lines of communication open.
  5. Here is a link to Nancy's facebook album for more from the series I've been posting. https://www.facebook.com/nancylynnf/media_set?set=a.356885861004327.112208.100000487482897&type=3
  6. You choose this for your first post? I mean, welcome to the site and all, but this thread is a celebration of the preservation of history. Please don't derail the thread with negativity. Thanks.
  7. With those deformities, rock tumbling seems a good guess. With fuzzy surfaces, I think of aquariums, but would aquariums give them those angles?
  8. If you sell an individual marble, put it in a baggie. Then some would ship it in a bubble wrap envelope. I would be sure to bubble wrap it a lot before I put it in the envelope. Would hate to see it succumb to stress. I have smallish boxes for shipping marbles. And small baggies (2" x 2") to put individual ones in. If you ship larger lots then you need to wrap them snuggly, but not so that they grind. And whatever box you put them inside, make sure there's room to put bubble wrap cushion around it, or wadded up newspaper could do. (Packing peanuts don't do very well.) Basically make sure there is room between the marbles and the edge of the box in case someone decides to dropkick it. First and foremost remember that you are shipping glass and treat it accordingly. I don't know of inexpensive ways to ship it. I guess that's why people moved to bubble wrap lined envelopes instead of boxes, to try to cut down on the costs. If you print your label out through ebay, I think you can get a discount on the cost of priority shipping. I don't know if there are any discounts available on other types of shipping.
  9. Also there are some pix of yo-yos and jacks, and historical pix of people working in the factory and of Mr. Frier's kite which contributed to the war effort. I'm sure some have already been posted out and about on the site. But I've probably posted quite enough in this thread for today. Eh?
  10. And then there are the kites ....
  11. It's Alox day on Nancy's page on facebook. Alox over the years ....
  12. Here's some better detail on the mibs. And I'm pretty sure the second pic is the ones that I used to have. (Finally get an "Alox" in the picture.)
  13. " The spotty examples still have stretched colors. " Yep, that's what I'm seeing so far. Thanks all.
  14. Beautiful solution to the lightbulb problem!
