I think that is a fantasy label. [Edit: maybe fantasy isn't the right word, but I think it's modern and someone artificially aged the staples] I'm with Master on the beautiful original marble.

Ron, it's on the first page of this thread. Back in 2014 you wrote that, "In 1932 there were legal problems and Alley sold out to the broker either Berry Pink or more likely Morris Rosenthal. In 1931 Berry Pink had suggested that Rosenthal acuire the Alley business. In 1932 the company is listed as incorporated with Berry Pink as treasure and purchasing agent and Russell U. Adams as general manager."

Looking forward to learning more about your grandfather.

Welcome! Everything looks good to me.

They mostly look like Marble King to me. The bottom middle has me wondering. Top left is a MK Rainbow Red. Bottom left is a MK Rainbow. I'm pretty sure MK on the right, but of course the kind which gets confused with Vitro All Reds. I think the top middle would be a somewhat newer MK, possiby straddling the line between vintage and modern. Back to the bottom middle? I might go Akro on that.

Pretty sure not Master, though Master cat's eyes can get weird. The texture of the blue seems softer here. With these views, I think it could possibly be a Vitro cat's eye.
-
I can agree with possible foreign on the top right and Master on the rest. The texture of the blue looks possibly modern. It might be helpful to see the blue on its own, maybe against a white background.

Bottom left could be Akro. I _think_ Vitro on the rest.

Hi Ray. Good to see you for whatever reason. Best of luck in selling your amazing collection.

Alley and Champion are both candidates with shades of purple.

A cool lady shared this on Facebook. I thought she was a member here, but now I'm not finding her ID, so I can't tag her with a high five. It was great to see this. Tahlequah is a big part of my family history, but this marble history is new to me.

Need video. 😄

There are some non-uranium reactions to UV light. Red/orange glow does occur. I would attribute Rick's red and oranges to some non-uranium chemical such as manganese. But have seen people present marbles as reacting to UV, when they weren't glowing but just sort of had an interesting look to them because it was blacklight not daylight which was shining on them. That's what I thought was meant by reflection verses reaction. Sorry, I can't track down the example I was thinking of most recently -- it was someone who said that each and every one of his Jabos in some large group reacted to UV. The photo he showed after that was just a normal Jabo distribution of glow. Some reacting. Most not. But the new collector thought there was reaction in all.

You reported the threats? I didn't see any reports. If you're receiving abusive messages through our private message system, this is something we need to know. Please report and/or forward the abusive messages.

Facebook marble prices are making me crazy!

And a lot of these newbies not letting it be known that they're guessing. So one newbie gets what looks like a decisive answer and enthusiastically thanks the person ... and the answer is wrong. In some groups you can count on at least a midlevel person jumping in to offer a different opinion. In some groups the wrong answers just hang there unchallenged. I don't know how people feel so comfortable answering so decisively! I tried it out over in your Pelt patches thread and was like one for four on what I thought was a gimme. I will continue my dithering ways. -
Some of MIke's patch pictures have disappeared from the site and of course none of the other pictures I came across have that shade of blue with the yellow, so I'll quit trying to see Pelt there. And it has eyelashes, so that nudges one over to the Akro side also. Still mystified, but not fighting against Akro.
-
While looking for Mike's pelts, I see this picture of what I called Pelts and I have transparent blue on white, so nevermind. I'll go Pelt on the blue and white.
-
I'm still on Peltier for the green and yellow. I'm still a bit weirded out on the blue and white. The transparency of the blue is making me wonder if this will turn out to be Akro. I'm still not seeing out the blue and yellow would fit into Akro, so I'm off to check out Mike Barton's pelt patches.
-
Not seeing that yet. More pix, Melissa?
-
I wondered about that one. A PPP with unusual colors. Or a really messed up Akro. I couldn't picture such an Akro so I stuck with Pelt. But now that you mention it .....

It has to go all the way around, because a double ingot is the glass of two separate marbles which have been squooshed together. It can be a very smooth joining. So smooth that you can't feel the line where the two pieces were joined. But you should still be able to _see_ the line and literally see the two separate marbles that came together.

Facebook marble prices are making me crazy!
Steph replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I have spent "too much" on a few marbles that I wanted in the overheated facebook environment. I'm still happy with 90% of my facebook purchases. I didn't mean to make new collectors feel self-conscious. There's just something about what is happening on facebook. One time I almost made a bid on Facebook for something along the lines of 8 Vacor peewee cat's eyes for about $15 including shipping. But I held back. Then I went over to ebay to look them up. I ended up buying what I found at ebay. Got 100 pee wee cats for less than what the small group on facebook was going to cost. I gotta hope that most people are shopping around a bit. But with sellers having confidence that they can get $10 + $5 shipping for a NM Conqueror, it seems that the sellers are counting on people not shopping around.
